Norquist: Health care reform must come before tax reform

On Friday, President Donald Trump told reporters that he is moving on after the Republican health care bill was pulled from a floor vote in the House of Representatives.

As market and political analysts work to understand what the bill’s failure means for the future of tax reform, one outspoken advocate for tax cuts expressed concern.

Grover Norquist, president and founder of Americans for Tax Reform, a politically conservative organization that opposes all tax increases, said health care reform is an essential first step to achieving significant tax reform.

“It has to go first in order to have a significant tax cut as part of tax reform,” he said, referencing the changes outlined in the original GOP proposal.

Suppose Trump agrees with Norquist? Who will Trump go to in order to get legislation passed? I predict a "fix Obamacare" bill coming.

There is already a clean repeal bill. Time for all Republicans to get behind it, starting from the WH on down.

Or, can AHCA be tweaked to gain full Republican House support? Would Trump even gamble on that again?

If Trump extends a hand towards the Dems, it is very possible that they will leave him jilted as well at the last moment. However, that might be worth the risk because then Obamacare would "owned" by them again while Trump could claim he tried with both parties to get something done before the coming disaster.

Why do people with room temperature IQs get quoted so much?
All these variations on “the president must complete X before working on Y “ doesn’t signal writers that the pundit is three legs shy of being a stable table?

Why would they bring to a vote something that will not pass? Just another ideological litmus test. Why would they even waste time on it?

In other words, a half-assed health care reform bill with fake budget projections was necessary in order to justify a tax reform bill with fake revenue projections.

This actually makes a lot of sense. For one thing, it would explain why so many people (including President Trump) staked their political credibility on a pile of horse crap. Secondly, this is exactly how Washington does business.

It will be a “Fix Bill” two reasons.

1-a new Entitlement is already out of the bag. You cannot put that tooth paste back in the tube.

2-Freedom Caucus will vote NO on everything, meaning Dems are needed. Fix is only option to get them. Part of the Obama legacy preservation.

This might not be bad actually. We want
1-No mandates, no forced purchase
2-Lower rates for individuals and employer plans
3-A lid on Medicaid

The media playing these heartless GOP types will scream at any bum who loses their insurance.

At least it isn’t single payer Bernie-Care

Except that is NOT what Trump promised. Replace was also part of the equation. And with something beautiful that covers more people and lowers cost.

Exactly right, they are both pro-amnesty and Norquist is pro-Islam.

To drive the concerned ones even crazier!

All these variations on “the president must complete X before working on Y “ doesn’tshould signal writers readers, that the pundit is three legs shy of being a stable table?

The very first item in Trump’s seven-point health care reform plan from his 2016 campaign was a complete repeal of Obamacare.

Yes, you can put that entitlement where it should be, which is gone, if you are a real republican not helping the dem party.

Thank you Freedom Caucus from saving us from republican rino care!

Question: What is the status quo? Is that not embraced by doing nothing at all?

It would be like saying that the highest corporate tax rate should be 15% or no deal period. What is the status quo? Would a no compromise position advance the position of lower corporate tax rates?

I used to admire the good ole ideological "put them on the record" votes. Now I don't think they are really very useful, especially when you are in the majority. These are minority political tricks, and we just can't seem to rid ourselves of that mindset.

You can tell people the ACHA needed to pass for a big tax cut to happen and they will call you a liar.

They will post who they think will replace Ryan knowing the whole time Ryan isn’t because nobody else wants the job. They will demand a clean repeal even knowing Trump wants a replacement also.

Norquist is an open borders snake. He is the last person to heed when it comes to the economy. Grover is laying the predicate for a contentious, intra-GOP fight over tax reform. And you can bet that he will weigh in on the fight to raise the debt ceiling. The GOPe is out to destroy Trump and his agenda.

Bert and Ernie say go find your dog Grover. Is not he the Saudi colluding type of uniparty elitist? I’m sure he has my best interest at heart
