Trump has Already Effectively Repealed Obamacare (Dick Morris)
Facebook ^ | Dick Morris

Posted on 03/27/2017 8:26:37 PM PDT by LS

Dick Morris says what I have said for a couple of weeks. Obamacare really has been killed, and no one noticed.

Trump told the IRS not to enforce the "individual mandate." That is the essential coercive element. No mandate, no O-care. Morris said he did this last week---in fact, I heard more than four weeks ago that the IRS was NOT enforcing this and just assumed it came from Trump.

Second, the requirement that you buy from an "approved" insurance company---Trump waived that as well by telling HHS to approve any policy as "qualifying."

Yes, some of the subsidies and other crap remains, but the individual mandate---which the USSC upheld---is gone and so is the other coercive mechanism.

And nobody noticed.

The next president, if he or she is a Dhimmicrap, can undo what President Trump has done.

If the next President is a Democrat, he will have been elected with large majorities in both Houses of Congress with a mandate to establish a single payer system, so you won't need to worry about his possible EOs.

I'm having trouble with people who do not comprehend the enormous demand for universal coverage, who have gotten lost in a political hall of mirrors where quasi-autistic debates about how to build the world's most complicated machinery to ensure that the insurance industry has enough money to keep making their payoffs to Members of Congress.

You cannot BUILD car insurance that pays for gas and wiper blades. And you cannot build medical insurance that pays for runny noses.

The attempts to take care of the tens of millions of people who cannot take care of themselves through a subsidized insurance system is failing. But the voters demand, over and over, that those people be taken care of, "somehow".

The way we accomplish the "somehow" is the most expensive, most complex, and stupidist system on the planet.

The only thing stupider is Paul Ryan thinking his Members will be rewarded if they dismantle it and replace it with nothing.

It is Gallup polling that has Trump approval in the thirties. And Gallup under its present administration simply cannot be trusted. When you see the Gallup name — disregard.

You and many others are in a place where for some reason there is no competition and only 1 insurance provider. So what Obamacare has essentially done is a mandatory wealth transfer from you and all the people in your community into the hands of that singular provider

Provider of what, exactly?

You are correct that it is a wealth transfer scheme. Now, take the next step.

To WHOM is the wealth being transferred, and for what purpose?

Payments to maintain electricity generators on poles in your town are not "wealth transfers". Payments to fix broken air traffic control radars are not a "wealth transfer".

The massive harvesting of "insurance" premiums in the health sector, on the other hand, is part of the reason the net worth of Members of Congress, who make $174 000/year, retire as multi-millionaires.

The guy on the right has some kind of long stain down the inside of his pant leg and that guy on the far left is really creepy – especially when his Adam's Apple jumps around when he gets excited – which is damn near ALL the time!

no matter how much you are messing yourself up

OK. Right now, the system is taking care of hospitalized drug addicts who have SERIOUSLY messed themselves up. I mean, messed themselves up to the tune of high six figures needed to put them back on the street. Some have Medicaid, others can't be bothered to sign up for it or are ineligible.

Those people are consuming taxpayer dollars because those same taxpayers DEMAND a system where "everybody is taken care of". That's what we have - a system where everybody is taken care of - but we do it in the craziest, most expensive and disorganized fashion you can imagine.

What "clean repeal" comes down to is either not treating them or sticking other sick people with the cost.

Members of Congress may not know much, but they can count votes like pimps can count money.

If you dismantle the arrangements that provide essentially free care to the helpless (and, depending on your definition of "helpless", there are tens of millions of them), you will see 400 Democrats in the House and 65+ in the Senate by 2020, and they will do a lot more damage than a national Trump-designed single payer system would do.

The penalty still exists, that one can file a return without answering the question about coverage is irrelevant. TurboTax for instance does ask the question and will calculate the penalty. I know, we are paying for my husband’s lack of coverage. What needs to happen is the penalty be removed, and all penalty payments be refunded. And I mean for every year they stole that money.

So, if I understand Morris right, what’s been done so far removes any new sources of revenues to the government or insurance pool, while keeping all the subsidies (expenses).

Or in other words, keep all the new nonpaying “customers”, while getting rid of paying “customers”.

If things are left like that, insurance premiums deductibles and copays will go through the roof even faster.

Excellent point. Trump will be blamed for booby trapping Obama Care and bringing it down.

What a mess...

Trumps poll numbers are in the 30's because this is the number that the polsters feel will keep progressives buying their useless product. The left is paranoid now that there is an entire voting block that can win elections that is invisible, should not exist and can't be herded like sheep by the media. Sort of an invisible army they cant see or control. Very scary. Lots of work for them to do to figure out how to herd Trumps army. And they don't know where to begin.

It has been written that TV shows are in the works to dissect and identify the Trump voter - sort of like getting to know the invisible bad guys who rained on the democrat parade. The only reason the left is searching for a glimpse of Trump world is that is is invisible to their naked eye. They live in a world of make believe where money rains from heaven, unemployment is a virtue and Christianity is an archaic cult. Trumpland is the real world and the left can't see reality since they live in their own fake news bubble. Scary times for the progressive left.

Since the Obamacare bill was pulled there is even more chaos in the minds on the left. There are so many unknowns now - who is in charge of what - what will happen to all the freebie benefits that have tumbled down like mana from heaven during the past 30 years? Unknowns are scary and the demoncrats are losing their minds to fear and paranoia.

This will make for great TV viewing.

“No, it’s not gone if it’s just not being enforced. The next Democrat president will enforce it.”

Yes, it does need to be gone but if this country is stupid enough to elect another democrat I doubt that it will matter. We won’t have a snowball’s chance anyway.

Well, killing the mandate hits the paying for it side.

But, opening up the insurance to more companies “MAY” help on the supply side. THat’s less clear, since so many insurers are losing money, even with premium support.

I still can’t find the web site I read, but in searching I found this one that repeats the information about responsibility. I also discovered that the IRS was going to stop accepting filings without insurance this year, it apparently hasn’t done so in the past.

I’m with you! With every passing year I become more convinced that our original constitution was incredibly well conceived and almost all amendments since have been mistakes.

Failing to enforce the law is nowhere near effective repeal. We need multiple executive orders, and we need hundreds of thousands of lifetime waivers from all Obamacare requirements. Every American citizen and business should be able to print up their own personal lifetime waiver or hundred-year business waiver so that they are immune even when a Ctrl-Left thug takes power again. We need all Obamacare lawsuits to have negotiated settlements that gut that evil law. Once it’s “effectively repealed” and everyone has a waiver, then we need to bring it to Congress again and pass a clean repeal.

As I keep saying, technically true but impossible.

Ever see a city try to go back and enforce spitting on the sidewalk rules?

Once a people get accustomed to a thing (can you say, smuggled tea in the colonies?) they will not be brought back to the “legality” of another thing (i.e., the Boston Tea Party).

Please explain why a Democrapic President could not undo what Trump did by Executive Order.
