You mean by quoting his Chief of Staff? Some folks here really make me laugh. They REALLY think President Trump is a conservative. And anything at all that challenges that narrative makes them scream “fake news”.
Trump now knows he can't deal with the conservatives in good faith. They apparently were close in the vote, so a few democrats would have put him over the top.
So, if Trump wants to win, he is going to have to go with the moderates in both parties to win and the conservatives get frozen out. Trump is not a conservative and does not claim to be a conservative. Recall Trump wants to spend $1 trillion in Chinese money to build infrastructure in this country. The conservatives will never vote for this, but dems and moderate republicans will. A marriage made in heaven for Trump.
