The ONLY good, solid healthcare system that works for the most people AND is constitutional, is the market economy free of government interference. Nothing in this world is perfect and nothing will completely satisfy everyone, but freedom and the free market is way ahead of whatever's in second place.
Legal argument: The Constitution does not authorize the feds to meddle in healthcare at all. The Constitution did not create a central government to satisfy everyone. The Constitution created a central government to protect God-given individual freedom to pursue life and happiness as each individual saw fit. Why has freedom from government become such a radical idea in America which was founded on the idea of individual freedom?
Economic argument: Why would anyone want to trade the best healthcare in the world which we had until the feds began interfering in the 70’s, for the DMV or the Post Office running healthcare? “Take a number, maybe we’ll get to you.” Who wants some stupid bureaucracy inserting itself between you and your doctor? No one would trade freedom for tyranny unless it crept in very slowly and gradually without anyone really noticing. Creeping socialism. That is the only way we’ve reached the point where we are now.
When did the feds start unconstitutionally meddling in healthcare? When did the cost of healthcare become a problem? Both the meddling and the problems began in the 70's and it was causal, not coincidental. Everything in the free market the feds touch turns to dust and ashes. Common sense tells you that when a third party (the feds) inserts itself into a transaction, the transaction will cost more because you're also going to have to pay the third party. In this case, the third-party interference of the feds requires massive skyrocketing costs in the creation of more new, bloated, useless, and unconstitutional federal bureaucracies. Common sense.
Repeal Obamacare (“Obamabuse”) with the goal of getting the feds out of the healthcare business altogether. Although certain protections may be necessary for a one-or-two-step repeal, the repeal should be speedy followed by a quick divestment of ALL federal government involvement in healthcare. I don’t really care how or what it takes to get there and/or what kind of political maneuvering will be necessary.
My concern is that so few understand the goal itself - that healthcare must be in the market economy free of government interference. If you don’t have the right goal, you’ll never reach it.
God, by your grace, restore our Free Constitutional Republic.
Sad that is such a radical idea in America. I pray for a YUGE change.

Quick! Submit a bill to take government out of the VA, medicaid, medicare, ssi, et al. See how well that goes.

Guaranteed all these tender loins in our ‘institutions of higher learning’ will kiss the airport tarmac when they come back - and will be more patriotic than George Washington.

I couldn’t agree with your goal any more. But today’s society is a media driven creature that has been “trained” to understand what they are told is fact, and to do what is in the best interest of everyone and selfish outlooks are evil and a destruction of this country. In other words, it takes a village, whether it does or not. And if you don’t “bail out” the week link of the chain in your village, you are not only someone to be wary of, but you are someone to attack and destroy at every opportunity.
Personal freedoms are only those you are allowed to have and in the mind of the government it is a privilege to have them. Years ago, they were considered a right. But using the legal system they created, all your rights are gone. So now the only freedom you have is in your thoughts. And you better keep them to yourself for your own protection. Someone may make up their minds, and those of others, that your thoughts may be offensive to someone and they will drag you to court and take things away.
The only thing that congress can do is slowly wean the public off the HCA. Cut it into forcing more and more public responsibility. And hopefully, it will be modified into non-existence in the years to come.
It took the libs three generations to get it in and overwhelmingly “sell” the people on it. (Those same people that are voters) It’s going to take a while to get rid of it. And it can’t be done by throwing the voters into the pond to teach them to swim. The conservatives need to stay in power until it is accomplished in a manner that satisfies the voters so they must stay in office. If they lose the presidency again, or both houses of congress, all the work they are doing will go down the toilet. And the media will go back to brainwashing the voters that the HCA is the anawer to all their problems. You can’t force feed a fighting animal. They make that decision. And even though it’s been one based on lies, the animal has been satisfied being fat and uneducated. Give it time.

Agree but it’s also sad that after you win a war you end up with a country that’s been blown all to hell or spent to death. When the Democrats forced OBamacare on us, they destroyed the private health insurance industry. It no longer exists - the plans that used to exist no longer do, the people who sold and adminstered them have been reassigned, some of the companies no longer even exist.
So there is no “back” to go to. We have to re-create it and that’s why this isn’t as easy as “repeal every word” (the guy who proposed that lost, by the way).
Trump ran on and will not sign off on anything less than “repeal AND replace”. And he is right - at least in the short term there must be some kind of soft transition for those who were forced onto Obamacare or you’re going to see a rapid end to Republican control of Congress, or at least they House - where they have 18 months to get this done without breaking it.
Watch “Watters World” if you think people are paying close attention to all these nuances of inside politics. THey are only going to pay attention when it hits them in the pocketbook and then they’re going to want to know why this is happening to them and who’s fault it it. And we know which party controls the media message.
Amen Jim 2016! To those saying take it down in steps. You are repeating the same advice that has gone NOWHERE or 50+ Years. Name any Government program that has been reduced and eliminated. Also those saying there will be consequences for eliminating Obamacare! Of Course there are consequences to embracing Evil! But that does not mean you do not take your medicine and correct that Wrong! We have so much medicine we will be taking for so much that we have allowed to occur it will be amazing if any of our souls find their way to heaven...

Freedom and the free market seem like foreign concepts to many including here on FR. The Left has won a great victory by distancing people from understanding and embracing their God-given freedoms.
“Conservative” no longer necessarily means, love of America and her values of freedom which is why I don’t identify myself as a “conservative” which term actually implies keeping the status quo, ie. the establishment. Fugeddabouddit.
The pattern from the beginning is:
1) God creates it (including the miraculous birth of America).
2) Man screws it up.
3) God fixes it.
Fixing this mess requires more than piddly man can do. It will take the power of God to fix our mess in America.
The “back to” is the Constitution (more like “up to” from the depths to which we have sunk). The Constitution remains the supreme law of the land (Art VI, Cl 2).
If you forsake the Constitution, you forsake the only legal protection of freedom from the tyranny of the feds.
Our battle is for reinstatement of the Constitution as the supreme law of the land in order to restore our Free Constitutional Republic. If we don’t know what we’re fighting for how do we know if we’ve won? If we don’t know our goals, we’ll never reach them.
Freedom is worth fighting for and, if necessary, worth dying for.

Jim 2016, one thing you must take into consideration, the “Constitution” is what got us here, It is not Perfect and one of its main failings is it does not recognize God or his Order. So until our Order is in conjunction with Gods order nothing will help and that is the main part of the “Constitution” that has to be corrected...
(One other note we are so far from a Constitutional government as original intent most have little comprehension of that intent to begin with... Hard to reset to that without common knowledge of such. Obamacare, Ryancare, Trumpcare show well here (at Free Republic), where most are suppose to believe government is not the answer, yet how many are wanting government to be the answer... and that just one item)

Here is one I’ve never understood. Why self-label w/ a moniker that requires 20-min to ‘define’; when the word itself means actually as you describe: “to conserve”, “stay as it”, “Status quo”.
At least w/ the Socialist co-opting ‘Liberal’, that’s quick/easy to shoot down as WRONG label vs. “Well, I’m financially conservative, but socially...” B.S. If you have to nuance, it doesn’t ‘fit’.

Unfortunately the labels/simple names I’d like to use for political ID have been hijacked by semi-weirdos (the Constitutional Party, the Libertarian Party, etc.).
It all began, natch, with commie lefties (i.e., unions):
The corporations were restricted by union regulations on wages, so they (G.M., et al) invented such bonuses as a non-wage way to distinguish themselves from the competition in order to attract new employees.
It always - always - gets back to governmental and non-governmental tyranny violating freedom and the free market.
