The world needs a good war. A lot of the gene pool needs to be eradicated.
This has been my opinion for a long time as well, as way too many people live in an alternate universe and need to be brought back down to earth and be reintroduced to common sense. As you mentioned this goes for the gene pool as well which has become tainted by some screwed up religious believes, causing mayhem and problems. No doubt that it will happen, just give it a little more time.
Wars tend to eradicate the wrong part of the gene pool.
