The Lone Ranger vs the Big Science Consensus
3-23-17
National Geographic retells the lonely battle of J Harlen Bretz against the scientific establishment, and what made them so pig-headed.
Glenn Hodges tells in bold narrative how one man, not even trained in geology, figured out the Channeled Scablands in eastern Washington state. Its a story weve told before, but this article in National Geographic, with Michael Melfords stunning photographs, is a keeper. The headline and subtitle give a flavor of whats below:
Formed by Megafloods, This Place Fooled Scientists for Decades
Geologists couldnt account for the strange landforms of eastern Washington State. Then a high school teacher dared to question the scientific dogma of his day.

Of course there were megafloods. Glaciers were a Mile Deep all over the northern US 16,000 years ago. When they melted the water had to go somewhere.
Sea levels were 400ft lower and Salt Lake city was nearly 1000ft under water when man walked to the US 12,000 - 15,000 years ago. Death Valley was a 400ft deep lake when Moses left Egypt.
Al Gore didn’t invent climate change. He just mistakenly blamed man for it.
