Nothing that oozes out of Reuters is credible.
I like takng an average of at least five of the most recent polls. Realclearpolitics.com does that kind of averaging.
The Economist/YouGov poll is of registered voters: 44% approve and 49% disapprove.
Rasmussen Reports is of likely voters: 46% approve and 54% disapprove
Fox News is of registered voters: 43% approve and 51% disapprove
Quinnipiac U. Polling Institute is of registered voters: 37% approve and 56% disapprove.
47%?
People can win elections with “only” 47% of voters nowadays.
Though Romney lost when he used that famous 47% comment.
These numbers are actually excellent. All of the negative press, put into even more high gear the last couple of weeks, and the worst he is doing is breaking even at 47-47? And in poll not particularly known to skew in his direction?
There’s no reason to be upset with these numbers if they are accurate. They are an indication he is on very solid footing.
