Law enforcement: It's a tough job but somebody's got to do it. But what happens when no one wants to be that somebody?
Numerous police departments around the country are desperately losing manpower with decreasing numbers of officers and recruits. Law enforcement is becoming less of a desirable career choice due to diminishing pay, high risk, and of course a recent bad rap a trend that could put public safety at risk, say policing experts.
The current shortage afflicts police forces from large metropolitan hubs to rural towns.
"Departments are struggling to find not only interested, but interested and qualified, candidates to join the force," said Jim Burch, vice president of the Police Foundation. "With everything happening around policing from salary to criticism, the question many people are asking is 'is it worth it?'"

That’s exactly what Soros, Clinton, Jeb, CNN, MSNBC, the UN and a crap load more want to see. It’s the plan.
what's happening is perhaps needed police can't be hired because the legacy costs are astronomical....
So what's the problem?
Short police can get into smaller places.
Uniforms can be made more cheaply (not as much cloth).
It's easier for them to find things to hide behind (so no one knows they're there until TOO LATE -- Busted!)
If the crime rate goes down, they'll be ready to meet it eye to eye.
Officer involved shootings-- people always say, "why didn't they shoot them in the legs?" Think about it.
The short of the long of it: It's the civil right thing to do.
According to the numbers, the main duties of an American police officer in 2017 are, in order:
1) revenue collection
2) risking their lives in order to enforce lifestyle crimes of dubious constitutionality
3) paperwork
... and somewhere way way down the list might be “protecting the public”, but that depends on the agency.
Here in NJ, cops (along with public school teachers and firemen) are our new upper middle class since so many good jobs left.
Cops minimize confrontation by just parking and scanning license plates; they then ticket those flagged for expired registrations.
A lot of white guys lost interest when they were kept behind blacks & women on hiring lists.
Not just that big cities want only black candidates, and you must live insides the expensive crime riddled city limits. Memphis is the crime capitol of TN, they are 400 LEO short, if you are white you need not apply, promotion for being white are virtually nil. Over half the black population have been incarcerated so don’t meet qualifications. As to promotions, they are under educated compared to their white counter parts. They don’t study. Racism is always the cause though. You can go to a straight number system no names used, it is still racism they didn’t get the promotion, not that they failed the Eval tests.
Brief, but concise. In short, I like it. as long as they don’t train these foreshortened cadets halfway, I’m all for it. As long as we can insure full funding for their training. I wouldn’t want to see them cut off.

“I won’t work for the left wing mayor son of a bitch...... f ‘em” said the resigning cop
Exactly.
But wait...there's more. When they graduate;
Way lower $$$ to equip little cars to go beep beep beep than those code 3 lightbars at about 2 grand apiece (installed with controllers) on a full-sized cruiser.
Imagine the municipal savings that could be realized.
Midget car=better mileage too (leaves more funding available for retirements --am I a genius, or what?)
It's a win from the reduced size, reduced cost wheels up, as high as it can go...
