North Korea attempted to launch a missile on Wednesday morning but failed, according to authorities in several countries including South Korea and the United States.
The South Korean Defense Ministry said North Korea appeared to have unsuccessfully tried to launch one missile, adding that it is still determining the type.
A U.S. Pacific Command spokesman said the U.S. military detected a launch attempt, with the missile appearing to have exploded seconds after launch.
Oops, somebody’s gonna get mortared for this...
Yes and most likely their family too.
NORK rocket scientists an endangered species.
If he kills them all off then the program suffers more. What a great idea!
I hope we are using some unknown unannounced secret weapon
We learn from failure. The Soviets (and Americans) tolerated failure as part of the development process. The NORKs actually have made remarkable progress, given the size of their economy and the constraints they are working under. I sure hope fat-yun doesn't understand that.
The U.S. effort right now seems to be aimed at making the fat-yun realize that a major thrust of the US in the event of war will be liquidating him, personally.
Silly question but just wondering. If all that debre falls into the ocean, why is PETA & environmental experts not complaining about all that pollution & its effect on marine life?
O ring issue?
Couldn’t get it up, huh?
Did it reach the United States yet?
I’m sure his people were told that they landed a test bomb into Kalifornia.
Could be there IS a Dr. No somewhere out there?
“Synchronize toppling beam!”
Try Laser Intercept. Unexplained launch site failure enrages Kim who will execute those deemed responsible. Showering contaminated debris field on launch has added benefits.
Every time I think about Kim launching nuclear missiles, all I can think of is Elvis’ hit “Return to Sender”. I’d bet the Israelis have a gadget to accomplish that.
Try this experiment. Go to Google maps and zoom way out so you can see NK, the pacific, and the US. Right-click and in the pop up menu select "Measure distance". Now click anywhere in NK, and then click and drag the other end of the measurement line to say Washington DC. That arc drawn on the map is a shortest distance "as the crow flies" and makes a decent approximation of the ground track an ICBM would take.
Notice how for just about any shot at CONUS the initial boost phase of the missile flight occurs over China and eastern Russian. You know boost phase - home of lots of propellant, max Q, lots of vibration... Typically the most stressful and dangerous phase of flight. If NK launched an ICBM at the US today, there's at least a 50-50 chance they would instead bomb China or Russia.
Maybe that's why China continues to help them. The Chinese realize the crazy little b*stards are going to do this anyway, may as well help them so their $%@!& little missiles don't land on China by mistake.
The result of the new crop of engineers from the last crop that failed and were summarily exploded or something.
