Even if they don't run for office, being an "award recipient" provides manufactured credibility for any cause you might choose to support. Consider Meryl Streep: multiple Academy Award winner, surely, she must be correct in her assessment of Donald Trump as a person and politican; consider Leo DeCaprio, award winner of some kind--surely, he is unquestionably wise when it comes to matters of global warming or climate change.
