~The FReeper Canteen Presents~ Road Trip: Fort William Henry Harrison, Montana Fort William Henry Harrison is the Montana National Guard training facility. It is also home to the Fort Harrison VA Medical Center and Montana State Veterans Cemetery, located adjacent to the military installation. Fort Harrison is located in Helena, Montana. Fort William Henry Harrison (18951913) was authorized by a Congressional act of 12 May 1892 which was intended to establish, as a part of a greater consolidation program, concentrations of troops in a few larger installations so that smaller installations could be abandoned. The post was first named Fort Harrison after the sitting President of the United States, Benjamin Harrison, on 13 Dec 1892. Some years later on 16 Feb 1906, the name was changed to Fort William Henry Harrison because it was discovered that there had already been an Army fort named for Benjamin Harrison in Indianapolis, Indiana. Fort William Henry Harrison was first garrisoned with troops from Fort Assinniboine near Havre, Montana 23 Sep 1895. The National Guard is a unique and essential element of the U.S. military. Founded in 1636 as a citizen force organized to protect families and towns from hostile attacks, todays National Guard Soldiers hold civilian jobs or attend college while maintaining their military training part time, always ready to defend the American way of life in the event of an emergency. Oh, forgot to mention ..... it looks like before too much longer there’ll be baby pix to post. It’s become evident the past couple of days that our newest addition to the “herd” didn’t arrive alone. Pixie was dumped because she’s pregnant. Just what we needed .... MORE kittehs. *sigh*

Ruh-roh is right. LOL! She kept gorging the first few days she was here and I figured that was why her belly was bloated. She still eats a lot but has slowed down .... and that belly has grown more. I finally sat down with her last night and did a bit of probing and could feel one of the kittens. We just hope she doesn’t have a large litter.

We’ve kept the numbers below 40 for quite a while now but that’s about to end, dang it. Just hope we don’t go back over 50 again. What we have now keep me plenty busy as it is! LOL

Good evening, radu...((HUGS))...lots of wet coming home. I spent the whole trip home trying to figure out which was to go to work in the morning. My neighborhood was surprisingly dry.
The city has to have all crews out on the main streets thawing drains as fact as they can. I’m hoping some drying goes on tonight before everything freezes.
Rain still in the forecast?

Glad you were able to get home. Now to hope you can get to work in the morning without too much trouble. Sounds like a mess up there but with all that snow piled up beside the roads ......
How’d the day go with the boss in town? Hope it wasn’t a hair-puller.
We had a little rain this evening when some storms unexpectedly came through. More storms coming through tomorrow afternoon and evening but we expect those. A slight chance for some to be severe but there’s been no mention of possible tornados ..... yet.
