Constitutionally all a committee can do is investigate - gather information. It does have a role in the process of “politics”. Conducting political warfare by using the investigation committee as “political theater”. This is what Republicans seem to be incapable of, they can’t manage the “show” in a manner to gain political advantage. They are so bad at it that most of the time they shouldn’t bother doing it. I hope I am wrong but I think you are seeing another example of GOP political incompetence in action.
