The villains here arent southern rednecks or neo-Nazi skinheads, or the so-called alt-right. Theyre middle-class white liberals. The kind of people who read this website. The kind of people who shop at Trader Joes, donate to the ACLU and would have voted for Obama a third time if they could. Good people. Nice people. Your parents, probably. The thing Get Out does so well and the thing that will rankle with some viewers is to show how, however unintentionally, these same people can make life so hard and uncomfortable for black people. It exposes a liberal ignorance and hubris that has been allowed to fester. Its an attitude, an arrogance which in the film leads to a horrific final solution, but in reality leads to a complacency that is just as dangerous.

I have no doubt that those on the Left are racial bean counters but when will there be a similar expose’ on the ‘racism’ of non whites?
When will we start earnestly looking at groups such as the Black & Hispanic Caucuses? Or LaRaza or the NAACP or any of the thousands of non white race based groups?
Out of morbid curiosity I did see most that movie.
I noted that there wasn’t a single white person in the movie that didn’t wish ill upon blacks.
I made it until the orgy of black paranoia and hate at the end, when the white neurosurgeon dad is about to apparently ghoulish transplant someone’s brain:
I just left the theater, I couldn’t stand it any more.
Do they make the blacks pull up their pants and get a job?
The review nails it pretty well.
The real horror is a world with no conservatives, which is what Get Out really displays effectively.
Unlike this author, most of us realize that the liberal racism is the primary racism in this country. Sure the neo nazis and other groups exist on the fringe. But these are not conservative or liberal groups. Just single-subject radicals. They don’t care about abortion, big government, or international trade. They’re just angry over some topic — maybe, for example, the reverse racism that is institutionalized in our system today.
Conservatives are the ones who typically see past race, and evaluate people by their character.
I saw the movie. I am a white conservative, and found it quite enjoyable. I can’t imagine why anyone wouldn’t stay til the end.
Dilema....
-I hate horror movies
-I want to support this film
solution - Buy it on DVD and don’t watch
Tried to watch the movie, the cussing and BLM theme were too much, we turned it off.
BLM theme? You must be talking about a different movie.
BLM theme? You must be talking about a different movie.
Liberals want YOU to “celebrate Diversity”. They want YOU to be tolerant.
The Left today is similar to the pious church ladies that marched for Temperance. They see YOU as a threat to society. They, or course, do not drink so they aren’t the problem.
In John 11, the Sanhedrin decide to kill Jesus in order to save the nation from destruction from Rome because Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead. That’s how liberals think.
nope, the trailer really sucks and I am a fan of Jordan Peele. He has gone off the rails on this one.
What’s the problem? Is nuance and subtle racism too hard to portray? The audience won’t get it? It’s not dramatic enough? So you have to do this black version of Psycho instead?
Liberal racism is a deep issue worthy of careful study and depiction. I await your second try which should be much better.
For the hour and 15 minutes that I watched that movie, it was a hydrogen bomb of black victimology:
Come on, white people want to coax blacks into the countryside to **transplant their brains**..???
The premise is ridiculous.
I heard the end of the movie features the black protagonist killing everyone in that evil White Brain Transplant Family.
It was quite entertaining. And it was only a partial brain transplants. White people wanted certain qualities of young blacks. They wanted part of their brains transplanted into young, viable, and strong black bodies, to extend their conscious lives in perpetuity. I didn’t see any BLM influence at all. With today’s medical science where it is, the premise wasn’t that far removed from reality. I’m just curious. For those here who found it objectionable, if the races had been reversed, would you still have found it so? Just asking.
How did you "turn it off"? Is it available somewhere on television or on line? I thought it was just in the theaters.
I hear you. I did stay through it. You could argue that the white cop at the start of the movie had Chris’ best interest at heart. He wanted to see his ID. He might have have been doing some mental math about local disappearances and about who went to and didn’t come back from the Armitage place.
There’s sometimes a point in some horrors of thrillers I’ll see in a theater (or even at home) where it occurs to me that what is happening before me is neither entertainment nor entertaining. Then I bail. The scenes in American Psych where Bale’s character is wantonly killing others finally drove me out my seat.
