Until the day the public treasury finally runs dry.
Then repeal suddenly becomes not so difficult.

If it doesn’t get the votes, it’s dead. And it wont hurt Trump a bit. It’ll harm Trump more in the long run if it passes. He doesn’t need this GOPe albatross hanging around his neck. He was elected to drain the swamp by cutting the federal government, not adding new entitlements.

The GOP wasn’t elected to do nothing.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Say What Now? Since when?
If doing nothing was all they were doing, then fine. I’d be OK with that.
But nooooo. They are screwing things up as usual. Only a few conservatives (House Freedom Caucus) are actively doing the right thing here.
20 million, a large portion of which are illegal, get FREE HEALTHCARE. The rest of us that pay for them cannot afford to use our now unnafordable insurance. I say F’ck em.
Screw Krauthammer. If the first of the three bills clear the House and Senate and Trump signs, I fully trust Trump.
Another instance where Rush is Right.
He has pointed out that dimwitted former Liberal Democrat Pennsylvania Senator Harris Wofford said on the Senate floor during the Hillarycare debacle that “If the Constitution says that you’re entitled to a lawyer, shouldn’t you also be entitled to a doctor?”
As vapid and nonsensical as that is, it stuck with the American Public. And thus the “right” to health care was born.
Good point. And if we eliminate the free healthcare to illegals and reduce the billions (trillions even) spent on our illegal immigrant problems; would that not leave more than enough in a healthcare budget to cover those US citizens who would lose out due to pre-existing conditions?
“Krauthammer has been a consistent #nevertrumper.”
That has to be the first consideration when listening to Krauthammer.
If you believe that then you fully trust Paul (am not going to defend Donald Trump—not now, not in the future) Ryan. After all Ryan is the author.
Not me. I don’t trust Ryan to send up anything less than the garbage we have now with ObamaCare.
And if Trump signs it - he will own it. TrumpCare.
But this is academic. These bill WILL NOT clear the House and Senate. Too many conservatives will refuse to sign.
hmmm, I not in agreement with that statement. How something can be a “right” when it requires the time, skill and resources of others makes no sense to me.
Do I want health care to be affordable and easily accessible while not discriminatory? Of course, I also want medicine to advance, which takes $$$.
obama and the democrats who wanted and voted in Obamacare should be made to pay for all the increases people have had under obama care and those of us who managed to keep our coverage but had it escalate in cost as well as they should pay dearly to all who had loved ones lose coverage and be made worse or die due to their implementing this fiasco of “health care” coverage.
You guys are enshrouding yourself in delusion. It’s like you’re presented with facts and when they don’t fit your desires, you decide they aren’t facts.
Turn back the clock. Not to 2010. To about 2002. 2003. Remember the Iraqi War Supplemental Funding bills to pay for it? Remember how the Dems had the votes to obstruct it?
They didn’t. Their base SCREAMED at them. They could have filibustered every defense bill that had those supplementals in it. They didn’t.
Why? Because troops would die. People would die. Americans would die.
There is no difference today. Obamacare is not going to implode, collapse, die, fail, or any other description you want. It’s in the budget. It can’t be defunded individually for the same reason as above. People will die. People WILL truly die.
So there has to be a replace. Going back to where we were 8 yrs ago faces 8 yrs of medical inflation, 8 years of population growth, 8 years of falling labor participation rate (fewer people with employer based healthcare). The past is gone. It’s not coming back.
Ryan is unpopular, but he’s right. We will never get closer than this to killing Obamacare. And Obamacare will never die on its own. It will always get funded.
Believe it, no one hated Iraqi funding on the left less than the right hates Obamacare, but they never stopped the supplementals. No one would stop funding Obamacare, either.
This is it. Tweak it, improve it. Vote it out of the House. The Senate can amend it, with the Parliamentarian sitting at their sides. Get it passed. Celebrate having a DO SOMETHING Congress. Reward the Trump voters in the Rust Belt. Without them, there will be no re-election.
“Obamacare carries on and then collapses under its own weight.”
This is nonsense. There will be no collapse. The government will just borrow and spend more, costs will keep rising and life expectancy will keep going down, as it did last year.
Oh, and those guys who think the Senate will not get 50 . . . Remember Ben Nelson, Dem in Nebraska? He was going to stop Obamacare.
Reid created the Nebraska Plan. Sent all sorts of projects to Nebraska to bring money and jobs there. It’s why the Omaha district is not really all that red anymore.
Well, reluctant Senators will be offered the same sort of thing by McConnell. They are there to represent their state. If they can help the people of their state why would they not accept projects and extra jobs. Trump will sign on, too. Make a special trip to their state to stand beside them announcing a new factory.
Don’t you worry none about getting enough Senate votes. Ben Nelson got lots of jobs for Nebraska. Rand Paul would love to have more for Kentucky.
Sorry, Charles, that only holds true for spineless representatives. After all, the 2nd Amendment guarantees our access to firearms. Yet the communists and liberals won't stop trying to take that away. We need to be every bit as dedicated to taking away socialized medicine. Free market is the American way.
If it will harm Trump if it passes then why is Trump working overtime to pass it? Seems to me Trump will carry this one over the line and no one here is lining up to stop him.
Trump wants this and he is going to get it so if it is to be stopped then all fire must be aimed at Trump.
