There is also another Madison amendment from the Bill of Rights project sitting out there too. True, regarding how many Congressmen we have for a given size population, but IIRC we're actually in compliance without having passed it.

This is a fascinating story. Thanks for posting.
Gregory Watson's accomplishment is the important thing here, not Professor Sharon Waite's dubious grading job. A grade of A might have motivated Watson better than a grade of C.

This is awful. imho
The E.R.A. is close to passing.
But those in power in the late 1970’s agreed the states should only get 7 years to ratify.(sort of an unwritten rule).
It appears this unwritten rule was breached.
To: Finalapproach29er
It appears this unwritten rule was breached.Ratification time limits did not begin until 1918, when the 18th Amendment (Prohibition) was submitted to the States. All previously proposed amendments had no time limit on ratification. The Supreme Court has twice upheld the Constitutionality of such time limits.

Jonah Goldberg wrote an article that advocated for such a ratio. Especially with technology allowing for votes without people having to travel to DC. Only concern I had was how powerful this would make the senate.

I’m not sure the Senate can be more powerful than they are already - given their voting on nominees and their stupid filibuster rule.
Obviously the way to deal with the Senate is to get rid of the direct elections.
