I’ve heard that liberals just in general, give less to charity than do conservatives.
And the reason for this is — liberals believe that the government should be doing all the charity care in this country. Plus, some atheistic or other liberals, who are antagonistic to religion in general, are offended at the clear religious orientation of some charities such as the Salvation Army.
My brother works with a preachy self-righteous liberal and he started on me one day, how Republicans and conservatives are mean terrible people and hate the poor, the usual line of leftist crap and I fired back oh yeah just what you done to help the poor around you??? Oh I pay my taxes! I said, I pay my taxes too so I guess I’m covered just like you. Oh no, you hate the poor and you get tax breaks.
This went on for a while and I finally said all right mister I care, what did you do beyond paying taxes to help one single person down on their luck in your neighborhood, community etc..., name one. He wouldn’t but kept after me so finally I said all right, no one except my wife knows this but I give to our local pantry started by several churches, they cloth and feed the poor in our area, I give money and used clothing. My wife always adopts an angel from the angel tree at Christmas to make sure some unfortunate kid has present and some new clothes every Christmas, and this on top of my tithes to my church.
On many occasions we have anonymously bought tickets to baseball games for poor tee-ball and little league kids and their parents at the end of the season to minor or major league games so they could go with the rest of the team and celebrate. No one knows this but me and her, we don’t advertise, we don’t expect recognition, we just do it. What have you done????
He puffed up and snorted it was none of my business what he does, leave me alone! I later found out from my brother he won’t give a penny to anyone or anything. Typical liberal, good at spending other peoples money but damned if they are going to spend theirs.
