My dog has been giving me dirty looks when I get up and I have to drag him outside. As soon as he comes back in he does what I wish I could do - dives back in the sack!

Seriously? In news/activism? Not just a “vanity”, but a vanity about your pet? Yawn.

Neither the autumn nor the spring change seemed to bother my dogs nor my cat. It did throw me though, didn’t this used to be a last Saturday in Oct and in March event?

The dog is right. You can’t fool an animal into accepting this twice a year nonsense.

The 92 lb Pitador who shares what used to be my bed spends much of each night negotiating with me over which of us will have how much of the bed.

The problem is not with Spring ahead, but that this is not the standard as (I think) it should be, living in the NE, where it gets dark at 4pm in Jan. and the extra hour of light enables more outside interaction, which is good.

Wait a minute. If your dog is used to eating at 3pm Saturday; 3pm Sunday would really be 2pm according to the dog’s stomach - so the dog is eating an hour early. What’s the problem?

In Florida where I live it gets light about 6:30 before the time change. 7:30 after the change my dogs don’t want to go out until it is light. It is hard to get them moving until the sun is up. Time change is madness.

Florida has a bill to have DST year around. I hope it passes.

You're bass-ackwards. In daylight savings time, 4 PM is what 3 PM was in standard time. We moved the clock forward, not backward. So 4:00 PM on Sunday (the first day of DST) is equal to 3:00 PM on Saturday, the day prior. If your pet was expecting to eat at 3:00 PM on Saturday, then he or she would not be expecting to eat until 4:00 PM on Sunday, which would still be 3:00 on your pet's time clock.

Your pet would be begging for food an hour earlier if we had moved the clocks backward, when we move from DST to Standard.
