It has been well documented that a significant number of Obama voters switched to vote for President Trump.
Personally, I actually voted for Obama in 2008 and then voted for Trump in November. I left the democratic party a year ago after 38 years so that I could support Trump in my state’s primary. Unfortunately, I live in Maryland and am basically disenfranchised.
I’m afraid I must disagree with you. Quite a few of those 20 million people are our people, particularly in the rust belt states. Moreover, the margins in PA, MI and WI were rather narrow and we cannot afford to jeopardize next year’s critical elections as losing either house of Congress would effectively neutralize Trump’s agenda. He would be stopped in his tracks, unable to pass any legislation and his re-election would be highly unlikely.
WHY in earth would 20 million people who are dependent on OBAMACARE have voted for Trump, REPEALING this bill was his MAIN campaign promise along with the WALL!!! People depending on a program DO NOT vote for a person PROMISING to destroy the program!!!
“I actually voted for Obama in 2008 and then voted for Trump in November. I left the democratic party...”
Policy wise, I don’t think you have left the democratic party. Why do you support polishing the turd? RinoCare is polishing Obamacare. Is that what you want conservatives to be? Socialists?
I am sure you are describing some of the calculus of Trump and Ryan.
I would venture to guess that the MAJORITY of Dems who voted for Trump, actually work (or did work, and are now retired) for a living.
And, that the majority of the welfare/0Care dependent Dems did not.
You’re not wrong about the facts, but unfortunately that thinking leaves us stuck in RINO policy land and still slouching toward European-style socialist failure/bankruptcy.
The path we’re on is unsustainable. If we’re not able/willing to reform, what’s the point of all this?
