The age pyramid is changing with a growing Boomer cohort that is entering their elder years. The large immigrant population, both legally and illegally entering the country, surely has an impact. Diseases that were once eradicated are coming back due to the free movement of people from around the world thanks to aggressive refugee resettlement. The promotion of euthanasia isn’t healthy either, but many are seeing that as a viable option due to the promotion of helpless/hopeless/worthless in the eyes of the State.
Just some possibilities that no one seems to be taking seriously in the public health field.

much of it has to do with the boomers living unhealthy lifestyles- as ‘deaths from diabetes is up’ ‘strokes, heart disease’ etc-

the lifestyle changes are probably the biggest contributing factor- theoretically, the death rates should be climbing again somewhat since less people are smoking these days due to prohibitive high prices’ That’ should’ increase longevity- but again- the lifestyle choices to not be so active offsets that-

I look around and see kids sitting in a house all day- overweight- texting or on the computer- this is a bad bad trend- I’m talking morbidly obese kids- sitting around all day- eating junk food- playing computer games- in the 70’s and 80’s and even somewhat into the 90’s (although kids started getting atari games and such and began spending way more time lazing around) parents worked hard- ate fairly well- and kids were always outside running around, playing- being creative- inventive etc- When i go to folkses homes today- the kids are plunked on the couch- all day- watching TV-

My folks had warned that the boomer age would result in the death age average dropping years ago- looks like it’s coming true-
