If CNN edited the footage to shift the angle of the story and riots ensued, then CNN should be charged with inciting a riot. Regardless of “intent”.
Sounds like CNN and the filmmaker just made a few clerks real rich for libel...

CNN, accuracy rating 10% on a good day.
Just saw this “filmmaker” on Fox, where they showed the whole clip he edited. He tries to make a deal with the night clerk (who is not the same guy he strong armed nine hours later). Initially the clerk puts two boxes of cigarellos into a bag, but after he checks out the package he hands it back, takes the boxes out of the bag and puts them back on the shelf. So the night clerk was going to trade cigars that belonged to his employer for weed, but did like the product, and cancelled the deal. The film doesn’t show that part, just shows Brown handing them back and claims he was going to come back for them later (why?). Cleary he couldn’t make a deal so he came back the next day and robbed the owner.
The above should read “didn’t like the product”.
