Police identify body as Kim Jong-Nam's (Updated)

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have positively identified Kim Chol who was killed at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 on Feb 13 as Kim Jong-Nam.

Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar made the announcement today but refused to divulge further details on how police made the identification.

"I'm not going to tell you how we identified the body due to the security of witnesses," he said.

He said that police have fulfilled its criteria through the law, and now that they are done with the body, it will be handed over to the Ministry of Health.

"We are done with the body, it will be with the Ministry of Health and under their jurisdiction," he said today at the closing ceremony of the pilot project for modern police stations at the TTDI Police station here.

He said that the relatives of the deceased who have been informed have not come forward to claim the body.

"According to the law only the next of kin and family members can come forward to claim the body," he said.

During the press conference, Khalid remained tight-lipped on investigations pertaining to the case.

He did however say that if the three North Koreans who are allegedly involved in the murder do not come forward, police will obtain an arrest warrant under Section 111 of the Criminal Procedure Code.

The section gives police the authority to request the attendance of a witness.

Jong-Nam, the estranged half-brother of North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un, was assassinated by two foreign women who smeared VX nerve agent on his face at the airport departure hall before his flight to Macau.

North Korea have vehemently denied that the man known as Kang Chol is indeed Jong-Nam.

Jong-nam may be buried in M'sia if not claimed by next-of-kin

BALIK PULAU: Kim Jong-nam may be buried in Malaysia if no next-of-kin steps forward to claim his remains, Deputy Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Hilmi Yahaya said today.

Dr Hilmi said there is no time limit on how long a body can be kept in a morgue, but the usual procedure, once a body is positively identified, is to “give it a burial.”

"We have yet to make any decision on the body, which is at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital’s forensic department.

The problem for Han-sol:

Given the possibility of a further assassination, he has not yet been able to retrieve his father’s body from the Kuala Lumpur General Hospital – though he has appeared on Youtube to confirm that the body is that of his father.

He must do this within one hundred days of his father’s death, on February 13, or his absence will imply the breach of filial piety. Pyongyang would paint him as cowardly, lacking moral fibre and unsuited to leadership.

I don’t know how many more “interesting” years my nerves can take.

"But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.

They are the kind who worm their way into homes and gain control over gullible women, who are loaded down with sins and are swayed by all kinds of evil desires, always learning but never able to come to a knowledge of the truth. ... these teachers oppose the truth. They are men of depraved minds...

He did via a video taped more than two weeks ago. He or any of his family members can't show up to claim a body in person for obvious reason.

I didn’t know he was only on video. That makes more sense.
