Actually, you both sort of make the author's point. There
are domestic producers of coffee, but they're very small and located only in Hawaii and Puerto Rico. Who gets to decide whether an industry has a sufficient presence to warrant tariff protection?
As is usually the case, it will come down to political influence first and foremost ... which means a tariff system will end up just as convoluted, useless and ineffective as ObamaCare (versions 1.0 or 2.0).

Agriculture is not industry. They are different birds all together.
There are three ways to create wealth mine it, grow it, or make it. The three are different and confusing the issues of one with the other two is disingenuous, that is why Free Traitors do it all the time!
