The Paris region passed a law Thursday that bans foreign languages at construction sites to stop foreign labor.
The Small Business Act wants to promote more public contracts for local businesses in the Ile de France region, which includes Paris. It includes a clause that makes it mandatory to use French as the working language at publicly-funded building projects.
This clause is necessary and targets foreign companies who come with their teams, without any of them speaking French, Jerome Chartier, the regions vice president, told AFP. These companies need to improve.
Several French regions have already imposed similar language restrictions to promote local labor. . .

Will they force them to eat snails too?
Well, that’s a start.
Sacre merde!

Nothing wrong with this, the French are notorious refuseniks when it comes to speaking anything other than French.
Means you speak their language while in country or get static.
I respect the French at least trying to preserve their culture.
Now, about all of those Muslims in France......
Just remember.....’Chapeau’ means ‘hat’.....’Oeuf’ means “egg”.....it’s like those French have a different word for everything.
They even banned Arabic???
They could still end up with a bunch of Syrians, Dominicans, and Quebecquois!
Sounds like something the USA could imitate — only if you speak English can you work at our site.
The problem is they are worried about Eastern Europeans which should be the least of their worries.
Companies here in the USA have done the same thing. You must speak English in some of them.
Yes, it’s great from a cultural point of view. Many French can speak English perfectly well but you would never know it especially if you are not a tourist frequenting Paris. It’s also good as a French learner because it forces you to speak French to operate day to day. The US accommodates non-English speakers and the result is billions wasted on such accommodation, job requirements for Spanish - disadvantaging the legal population, and immigrant communities that fail to integrate.
Another interesting fact: In France, you have to put a photo of yourself on your CV/resume. Employers will not look at it without it. Infinitely higher response rate if you look like what the majority of French look like. If you look at a typical French company or institution there are very few non-caucasian employees and when they are they occupy low level positions. It’s much different than what you would see in an American company.
Also Senegalese, Algerians, Guineans, etc.
Interesting!
