A satirical Carnival float showing the British Prime Minister with a ‘Brexit’ gun in her mouth is set to become an iconic new addition to a Unite for Europe campaign.

The float made its debut at the Düsseldorf Carnival last month, which traditionally entertains guests with politically satirical floats mocking major politicians. It depicts Theresa May sticking a gun emblazoned with “Brexit” into her mouth, over the words “Good luck, Great Britain!”

The float’s creator, Jacques Tilly, was reportedly about to get rid of it when he got a call from Peter French of the Unite for Europe campaign, according to local newspaper Rheinische Post (RP) this week.

Now the float is being shipped to London so it can take center stage in a March for Europe demonstration against Brexit on March 25th. …

Sure, “satirical”, just like the anti-Trump floats. More like demonstrative of the evil that is at the EU’s core.

Who can argue with such masterful logic as that?

Of course the UK should stay in the EU!

That float will change everyone’s mind. /s

Not quite the same as a Statue of Liberty, I suppose...but satire is satire, even if you don’t agree with it (and neither do I, in this case). That’s the whole point of it.

Well, I’m sure if it were Merkel with a sabre held at her neck by a raghead, and a sign saying “Good Luck, Germany!” it would be okey doke!

Satire is clever and amusing, not crude, tasteless and vulgar as these floats are.

They’ve had some vulgar floats showing Merkel in the nude at some of these parades, but no, not anything like that.

crude, tasteless and vulgar

And that would be your personal definition of what satire is, or is allowed to be. I probably missed your enraged outcry over the float that showed Bill Clinton grabbing the Statue of Liberty's tits? Some would consider that crude, tasteless and vulgar. So what?

Offended by Mohammed caricatures much? (Some consider those to be "crude, tasteless and vulgar," and will even riot and kill over such - I prefer to err on the side of FREE SPEECH, even if it hurts delicate sensibilities.)

This is how clueless and out of touch the left is.

Sure, the float was a big hit in Germany. So was the float of Trump holding the decapitated Statue of Liberty. The left are very sick people as they prove time after time and they revel in each other’s sickness.

But a float showing the British Prime Minister holding a gun to her mouth is not going to be well received in the UK, even by a group of Remoaners, and is going to grossly offend most Brits.

It will have the same affect that Obama had when he imposed himself on the UK right before the Brexit vote to tell them they would be going to the back of the bus if they didn’t do what he said. His arrogance completely backfired (as always) and pushed Leave over the top.

In fact, next to Nigel Farage, Barack Obama is probably the single human most responsible for the success of Brexit.

False equivalence between free speech and ill character. The left likes to ride that wave in order to push their filth.

The float, however, will certainly backfire as to its intent while in London, so as far as free speech goes, then it will certainly work.

So was the float of Trump holding the decapitated Statue of Liberty.

So was the float of Bill Clinton grabbing the Statue of Liberty's bare tits. You cannot pick and choose according to your personal preferences, if you want to be fair. Karneval is all about being non-PC, wherever the chips may fall.

The floats always lampoon the current situation, and that includes - in the few floats out many that are mentioned here at all - current heads of state. US presidents, German chancellors, UK prime ministers, etc.

Your distinction between free speech and ill character is yours only. You call it "filth" - in the context of the Karneval tradition you do not comprehend - just because you cannot stomach statements that do not align with your politics? Get over it. Ignore the idiots you disagree with, as most do.

Blurring the distinction between free expression (not mentioned in the US Bill of Rights, but mentioned in Article 5 of the Grundgesetz with some caveats and as a “positive” right rather than “negative liberty”) and ill character is what resulted in the “urine Christ” among other travesties.

Since I still look to the intent of the USA’s Founding Fathers and how they forbade the abridging of free speech (carnival floats are not speech but art, or supposedly so), they emphasized good character, especially religion and morality. So it is not just me.

And to answer your earlier nonsequitur, I did not approve of the depiction of Bill Clinton you mentioned, either. I’m not about to censor it any more than the other Düsseldorf floats or even depictions of Mahomet, in case you mistake my opinion of the floats or other similar things as intent to censor.

Obama is basically a pro-EU hack; his ideology mirrors that of the EU in too many respects. Hence his “back of the queue” rhetoric.
