The Department of Justice is deploying 50 judges to immigration detention facilities across the United States, according to two sources and a letter seen by Reuters and sent to judges on Thursday.
The department is also considering asking judges to sit from 6 am to 10 pm, split between two rotating shifts, to adjudicate more cases, the sources said. A notice about shift times was not included in the letter.
The Justice Department did not respond to a request for comment.
On Jan 25 President Donald Trump issued an executive order aimed at speeding up deportations and holding migrants in detention until their cases can be heard.

The President has a long history of problem-solving. This a brilliant move. I’ve never heard of such a thing before. These must be administrative law judges. I am sure no federal court jurisdiction for Habeas Corpus exists here.

“Circuit” judges used to be judges who travelled around territories hearing cases long before they were states. I am not sure if they still travel, but I believe Henry the VIII (or one of those Henrys) started this practice. I will bet that the judges assigned to these duties will not be happy travelers, but it will be their jurisdiction.
That’s a long held practice in Filthadelphia. I remember the Rolling Stones, JFK, 1982! The judges and cops likely bought a second beach house after that fiasco!
