Police arrested the young woman who allegedly attacked a 71-year-old woman with her own cane in the new Second Avenue subway station at 86th Street earlier this week, authorities say.
Breonna Turk, 24, was arrested Wednesday on assault charges.
Police say Turk had her daughter with her as the two waited for the elevator alongside the 71-year-old victim shortly after 2 p.m. Monday.
The child apparently pushed a bit to get onto the lift when it came, and once they were inside the elevator, the victim told Turk she should teach the girl to wait for people to get off before rushing on, authorities said.
Turk then allegedly pushed and punched the victim, at one point grabbing the victim's cane and repeatedly bashing her with it as she was on the ground, according to police.
Turk and her daughter ran off after the elevator reached street level, police said.

Some mothers get very testy when you confront them about their children.
I was on a bus once some years ago, and watched as a child sitting with his mother repeatedly kicked the seat in front of him. The woman sitting there finally got annoyed and turned around to ask the mother to ask the child to stop. The mother then turned on the victim and threatened to beat her up if she complained again.

Black women here have, in large part, ruined their communities, their men, their children. My compassion for them is now zero.
When you hear things like this, it can make you afraid of black people.
There have been shopping malls which have closed down because there were too many feral “youth” who scared off legitimate customers.
The sense of entitlement is strong with some blacks.

Others are ill mannered too, but this seems magnified in blacks.
In this case the mother is shocked, just shocked and outraged that anyone questions the behavior of her child. Then the mother shows what a role model she is by attacking a person who deigned to bring it up.
I fear for the future in many ways, and this is one such issue I’m very fearful of; that critical numbers of people are nor being raised properly, and are prone to violence over the most trivial matters.
I’m afraid of any altercation with black people for this very reason.

I live in an area where people are heavily armed and misbehavior is usually not tolerated. If you are too much of a threat, they find your body on the first day of hunting season. It’s amazing how polite people can be here. Having grown up a fairly large metro area, it took me a while to get used to living in a place where there are no “stay out” areas. I was used to always knowing the borders.
Bad people are less confrontational because they fear what can happen to them. I live near the hunting range and the sound of constant gunfire is very reassuring.
