"Well, the bullies can gloat and preen that they chased the skinny kids off the block," said Leon Rodriguez, a former Obama administration director of US Citizenship and Immigration Services. "We need to understand what has occurred here. Poor people -- in many cases, mothers with children or children alone, fleeing intolerable violence and poverty -- have been scared away. Many of those are people with legitimate asylum claims that would ultimately have been granted had they actually reached ports of entry."~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Liberals reacting as expected

There is still a legal process for Mexicans to apply for visas and eventual U.S. citizenship, is there not?

There is no other nation on earth that will allow people to just stream across their borders illegally and sign up for welfare benefits.

Poor people -- in many cases, mothers with children or children alone, fleeing intolerable violence and poverty

Oh, boo-hoo.

From a humanitarian point of view, is someone so desperately poor they can only afford to live in a shack hobbled together from whatever materials they can find better off by sneaking into the US and living the exact same lifestyle? I would argue that they are worse off. That is because not only are they living the same lifestyle, they are surrounded with evidence of people living comfortable lifestyles... evidence that is right in their faces, all the time. And they still have no way to achieve it. At least, in their home country, they are living among people in roughly the same economic situation; their faces aren't being rubbed in the "rich" lifestyle they cannot achieve.

I came to this conclusion because when I rode the train to CA last month, I saw what are presumably illegal aliens living in cobbled shacks along the railroad tracks in the Bay Area--living exactly the way that I have seen people living in Mexico.

Whatever.

Get 'em out!

Good job border patrol and ICE.
