blind squirrel. acorn. don’t be fooled.
He was the FIRST candidate to say bill clinton’s sex life was on the table in the presidential race.
I didn’t want him as president, but i like him.
We won’t change each other’s minds so you can have the last word and that will be it :)
“Dont you want to see his budget first?”
Well, I will be very pleasantly surprised if Trump proposes budgets geared toward ending any/all federal entitlements.
But if he does, it will be a complete reversal of his campaign promises.
Don’t get me wrong, I voted for him. He is worlds better than Hillary. He’s great on immigration, nationalism, etc.
But this issue has the potential to bring him from God-like status to good-on-some-stuff politician among some of his supporters.
Trump is expecting growth to solve our money problems. I’m not opposed to growth strategies: lower taxes + wider base, lower regulatory burden, etc.
But the stars are aligned like never before in the sense that we have stormed and conquered the House, Senate, WH, soon the SC - PLUS massive majorities of state govs and state houses.
This will go down in history as the biggest waste of such potential if we don’t manage to get some power devolved to the states.
Trump has nearly unprecedented potential to be a force for good in this regard - ‘good’ here meaning the uniquely American definition: Freedom!
But to do so, he’d have to break campaign promises to the contrary.
That's not true; his sex life was under the desk.
I’d like to see the percentage growth would have to be to not only rid the deficit but cut the debt.
I envisage a very high number.
I am with you that slicing and dicing and more slicing needs to be done.
Trump tends to smartly speak on broad terms, so his “promises” may not be exactly what some moochers were hoping for.
That’s a great show of faith in one man.
It is tough for me to understand what it is based upon though. Trump loves the fed involvement in SS, medicare, medicaid, etc. And his daughter is not helping, she’s reportedly lobbying for more fed level entitlements regarding daycare, paid time off, etc.
It certainly seems like blinded faith at this point to expect that he will do so. But if it makes you feel better, I do hope and pray he breaks his promises to protect federal entitlements.
Ryan works for Obama as one of his minions.
that backstabbing fence owning leprechaun ####.
No federal control over healthcare. It is illegal.
Anyone who can read who reads the Constitution of these United States knows that. PERIOD.
You are precisely correct.
Thanks for making the point.
Unfortunately that point needs made over and over again. But we finally have a man in the bully pulpit to educate the public about that.
And it is the right thing too, which will work better: elitist centralized schemes to control multimillions off people all over a continent from one central city, “The Capital,” do not work, because no one there even when they gang up is smarter than the invisible hand of the free market, which is people voting day by day with their money.
But even if it were not the “optimal” thing, it is not moral to let one back east FAKE CITY control everyone — peace will never come from that — limited government as exemplified by our Constitution is proper and moral and incidentally “just works” anyway.
Ryan is nothing more than the Pelosi organ grinder monkey.
Trump didn’t say he was going to add new entitlements after repealing Obamacare.
I hope Paul and Cruz can get through to him and he can see Ryan for the scum that he is.
You don’t think our poor elderly and retired should have access to medicare? And I’ll be darned if I pay into SS for 40 years and the government decided to keep that money.
“our poor elderly and retired should have access to medicare?”
The idea that good works can ONLY be done by the federal government is a dangerously liberal notion.
The exact opposite is closer to truth. Look what this socialist program has done to millions of otherwise decent conservative folks: it has them defending an awful, inefficient and unconstitutional program simply because it was successful in creating dependency in the ones they love.
The federal government is neither the morally correct place nor an anywhere near efficient place from which to dole out charity. ALL Republican plans which have proposed otherwise, including prior plans by Ryan himself, involve block granting to states for a time and then letting states decide whether to continue messing with people’s lives and pocketbooks going forward. Where it is at least constitutional, though still a bad idea.
“Ill be darned if I pay into SS for 40 years and the government decided to keep that money.”
Surely you are not naive enough to believe your money has not already been spent. You were robbed already. They keep you shut up and dependent by promising to potentially pay you back a little at a time by robbing future generations too.
With Ryan as the example again, plans to reform SS always involve choice: stay in the awful plan if you like or, especially if you are young, then get the hell out and run your own life.
People who wish to never get rid of the current fed-operated SS program are guilty of imprisoning future generations with the awful and highly abused mess. And of encouraging the continuation of a sham which would be illegal in the real world regarding the how the govt manages your money.
If your only concern is what has happened with your SS money specifically, then at a bare minimum you should demand SS privatization. It would be what you seem to think SS is today: a pot with your name on it full of your money. You’d be able to lend yourself money, leave it to anyone you wish in a will, families could grow inter-generational wealth, etc. Or we keep the same ponzi scam and continue to let the thieves “keep that money” if you croak early, etc.
If it passes TRUMP is finished. They will never repeal this monster and i will never vote republican again.
If this passes:
President Trump will be impeached
by conservatives ... and deserve it!!!!
Cruz and Lee are also back doing what they do best - I think Trump is letting Ryan run his "little experiment" to demonstrate how out of touch he and the GOPe are on this matter.
The conservative caucus is going to hang tough on this one. There are not 218 votes for Ryno care in the House. Its likely DOA.
