The Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon watched his shows ratings take a hit yet again on Tuesday as competitor The Late Show With Stephen Colbert won its fifth straight week in overall viewers and sources say Fallons being forced to change his strategy to win back eyeballs.
[Fallon] is feeling the pressure. I mean, Stephen Colbert is now beating him in a big way and he has to change his format to keep up because hes losing viewers, said a source, adding that Fallons getting more political. They had to figure out a way to get Trump [into his routine] because hes too weak on Trump, and viewers are going elsewhere. [Hes been] uncomfortable talking about politics, and thats not what the people want.
Sources tell Page Six that Fallon was forced to zhoozh up his show and recently debuted a new segment, This Week in Words, to rival politically edgy Colberts late ratings hike.
A different source added that Fallon is being pushed to be more political. When he was on SNL he could be vicious on the Weekend Update desk.
David Letterman dinged Fallon in New York magazine, saying, I would have gone to work on Trump.
CBS crowed Tuesday that former Comedy Central host Colbert won the ratings race for a fifth straight week in overall viewers, growing 29 percent from the same time last year. But a Tonight Show source said, Fallon continues to enjoy a lead over Colbert in the 18 to 49 demographic, which is more important in the industry than the overall viewership. They said Colberts recent string of wins has gotten slimmer each time.
The numbers still get Fallons goat.
He freaks out over this. He has to be on top, a source told us.
But another source close to the show insisted Fallons a fan of Colbert, and, We always strive to unveil new sketch material. We have as much fun doing political humor as we do skewering pop culture . . . We love Stephens show. Theyre doing great stuff. Theres no shortage of material every night.
An NBC rep commented: From Jimmys first week on the air, the entire team has done a remarkable job keeping The Tonight Show fresh and entertaining.
Fallon thinks trump-bashing will make him more money? I hope it doesn’t.
they are all fighting over the same limited number of Trump haters in the 18-49 demos. Kimmell has been #1 for years on ABC with no lead in
I miss Johnny
“Letterman I wouldnt piss on if he were on fire.”
I’m dating myself - but I recall a time when Letterman was actually funny. Of course, that was back in the 80’s. They used to do some funny and goofy things on the show.
But I stopped watching him a long time ago. He got political, unfunny and cantakerous. No one (in their right mind) wants to watch that.
LOL
The leftist MOONBATS are so in panic they left their lighthearted pretty boy funny guy and flocked to the closest thing they have to Jon Stewart.
Lucky d-bag colbert...
Someone asked me if I like Colbert. I said, “Very much.” I thought he had asked about cold beer.
Carson is long gone.
Only lefists watch this mindless late night crap nowadays.
eating their own as usual.

Henceforth, we shall refer to Colbert as Ashley Judd’s vagina.
Early 80’s like 1983 my high school buddy would come over all of the time and i’d cook Oscar Myer cheese dogs in the toaster oven and we would watch Letterman.
Now i wouldn’t give that d-bag the time of day....
Yep!
He was probably best when he was guest hosting for Johnny; angling for the job.
But when they passed him over for Jay,he got bitter. Of course he was probably passed over because they knew what he was like behind the scenes: bitter.
I’ve seen a couple Carson episodes recently. Don Rickles was on.
No, Kimmel is in third place in both categories. And there is talk he may “retire” when his current contract ends in theee years. Translation: ABC Is keeping its options open.
I recommend Shaun the Sheep
“Colbert is an unfunny, grossly overpaid, smug a**hole.”
You left out: “effeminate, nancy-boy, a buggerer and ass clown!”
What were you thinking????
who else has ABC got? They can’t even find anyone to babysit Kelly Ripa! :)
Michael Strahan for ABC late night! He does everything else...
You are so right. Colbert is a horrible person. He became famous by ridiculing and humiliating people. His pranks weren’t funny and were designed to make himself seem superior while denigrating others. He claims to be Christian, which is the real joke. I can’t stand him.
