This story ended well, but the bigger travesty is the corrupt judicial system that let this killer go on some technical issue when they knew he was guilty.

That would have been politically very dangerous. The only reason to even try this is to help a fellow Muslim, or because massive under-the-table bribes had been received from one of the Muslim countries (Saudi Arabia seems a high possibility).

Too unlikely. Even in the worst areas of this country, a person can usually walk on the street without being ambushed right away.
More likely that someone working in the jail had connections to a competing gang, and gave them details of his impending release. Then it was just easy pickins once that moment came.

Hmmmm.... His accomplice, Hogan, was “accidentally” shot. Could it be the PD was concerned about a witness in a police shooting? Wonder if Hogan had filed a lawsuit.

Because of defendants rights (which out weigh the victims) and their lawyers there is NO SUCH THING AS A SPEEDY TRIAL. Or a carrying out of the DP verdict.
