HONG KONG — The United States said on Tuesday that it had begun deploying an advanced and contentious missile defense system in South Korea, prompting China to warn of a new atomic arms race in a region increasingly on edge over North Korea’s drive to build a nuclear arsenal.
The American announcement came a day after the simultaneous launch of four missiles by North Korea into waters off the Japanese coast, which Pyongyang said was a drill for striking American bases in Japan. The feat, footage of which was broadcast on state television, raised concern about the North’s ability to overwhelm the new defense system being deployed.

A spokesman for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Geng Shuang, denounced the United States’ decision to deploy the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense system, or Thaad, and vowed that Beijing would “take the necessary steps to safeguard our own security interests.”
“The consequences will be shouldered by the United States and South Korea,” Mr. Geng added, warning that the two countries should not “go further and further down the wrong road.”

Obama’s problem was always enemy identification... or maybe not.
As for China, when you have a deadly enemy like North Korea, who is always threatening to attack you, and another country (like China) is always interfering with your ability to defend yourself; both the threats and the interference are incredibly hostile acts.
But Russia is the big problem don’t you understand...sarc.
Marine Le Pen was warning in a recent interview that all this hostility towards Russia will end up driving them into the arms of China.

In a landmark decision today North Korea is eliminating 90% of it’s population in order to be able to spend more money on missiles for self defense.
China warns of an arms race? Too funny! China has been arming at warp speed for years while the U.S. under Obama rushed to disarm.
An arms race means the U.S. will finally show up on the track to join the fun by arming itself. Good.

I wasn’t much of a Douglas MacArthur fan, but he was right about nuking the Chicoms back across the Yalu River.
Let’s see - North Korea advances its long range ballistic missile developments, but that, to the Chicoms does not contribute to an arms race, but South Korea’s rational response to those developments represents an arms race.
Note to China - you are not fooling anyone.
