SAN ANTONIO - An arrest has been made in a shooting outside a Northeast side convenience store on in October 2016.
Police said it was a Crime Stoppers tip that finally led to an arrest.
The suspect is Savawn Kyle, 23, who didn't appear very worried as he was escorted by police in front of media cameras Friday night. In fact, he seemed more concerned with promoting his mixtape, which he mentioned several times.
Kyle is accused of shooting 29-year-old Renard Smith, who was found with a gunshot wound on outside a Food Mart on Midcrown near Walzem. He was taken to San Antonio Military Medical Center where he passed away.
Witnesses reported hearing one gunshot and saw a red Mustang and a silver Mercedes leave the area.
Police said the shooting stemmed from a dispute over money. Some of the shooting was caught on surveillance cameras outside the store. That, combined with a tip from the public, led to this evening's arrest of Kyle by the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force.
Kyle now faces a charge of capital murder.
