Law & Order: SVUs thrice-postponed, President Donald Trump-flavored episode has now been verbally vetoed by a longtime cast member.
Previously, Veeps Gary Cole who guest-starred in the SVU episode as a Trump-like presidential candidate accused of raping an underage girl sounded skeptical it would ever see the light of day, explaining that when it was written last spring, I think maybe the thinking was that the [real-life election] outcome was not going to be this outcome, with Trump winning. But now youre in a whole different ballgame.
Now, Ice-T, who plays Detective Fin Tutolua, says of the lost episode, I dont even think its worth showing. It wasnt one of our best shows. After laying out the entire episode (twist outcome included) for Vanity Fair, Ice-T echoed Coles thoughts on art imitating life a bit too much. Law & Order wants to be close, but not too close, he said. [E]ven though this guy [Cole] played wasnt Trump, he acted like Trump. I think NBC just said, You know what? This might be cheesy or corny. And to put it out now, its old and stuff. I think they just got rid of it, he said of the missing hours fate. I dont know if they burned [it] or whatever. They paid me for it. I dont give a --k, really. I got my money!

A president accused of raping an underage girl sounds a lot more like Bill Clinton than Donald Trump
Never watched it. There is a big market for tv junk shows, apparently.
I have not watched a single episode and doubt I ever will. Something about the title just irritates me. Not even sure why.
All the plot lines seem similar. I’m waiting for
the story of an innocent guy who gets destroyed by a false accusation...a malevolent prosecutor... a rabid press...
And that right there pretty much sums up Ice-T's entire career.
I met him a long time ago. Acts like that in person, too.
I gave up on L&O about the mid Curtis era.
Perhaps what gave them pause was the possibility of being sued until their eyeballs bled by a sitting POTUS.
An actual sex criminal playing an SVU cop...priceless.
You mean the guy that did a song called, "Cop Killer".
Gots to get paid, y’know what I’m sayin?
My husband watches. I watch with him because... because he is my husband. Beyond that, I got nothing.
I’ve never watched one episode of any of the Law & Order programs. I never watched any of the CSI series either, and only watched the first season of NCIS New Orleans because of where it was filmed. I wasn’t impressed with the characters, or the cases they presented, and so passed on the second season.
Now that I did a little searching and figured out the difference between Gary Cole and Gary Coleman it doesn’t seem as funny.
It's actually a well written, well acted drama. I couldn't watch more than a few episodes, though. The subject matter is always dark.
The one and only.
My first thought as well!
I’m 0 for 400 and want to keep it that way.
I didn’t know that. I used to watch it sometimes but found it depressing. After I saw the episode of dumb skin-heads or Neo-Nazis possessing weapons of mass destruction I switched channels and never did watch SUV again
