Mr. Comey made the request on Saturday after Mr. Trump leveled his allegation on Twitter. Mr. Comey has been working to get the Justice Department to knock down Mr. Trumps claim because there is no evidence to support it and it insinuates that the F.B.I. broke the law, the officials said.
A spokesman for the F.B.I. declined to comment. Sarah Isgur Flores, the spokeswoman for the Justice Department, also declined to comment.
Remember, this is "what the meaning of 'is,' is." Bunch.
Comey is NOT quoted.
Unnamed sources do NOT quote Comey.
According to unnamed sources, the statement by Trump "needs to be corrected." Not withdrawn, corrected. (Comey may, or may not have even said it, but if he did, the existence of a "wiretap" is probably technically untrue, and should be corrected to "surveillance.")
Spokesmen for the FBI do NOT verify the story.
Spokesmen for the DOJ do NOT verify the story.
This is The New York Times. It's BS, and doesn't make a single verifiable statement.
Very good analysis. Thanks for posting!
Sounds like a lot of CYA is going on.
VERY nice job in breaking that down. Your word analysis really shows how devious media is.
Too funny, the media and the left are like deer in headlights right now. There’s no point in running when you are ...well....and ....truly .....>()#&$()&##$!!!!
Yup, a total crapfest from the NY Times. All anonymous sourcing, not a single substantiated statement, and even IF Comey is pushing for anything behind the scenes it may prove to be merely some clarification or some Clintonian parsing of words.
ZERO indication so far that anything is wrong with President Trump’s tweets.
Even if there is parsing to say “Obama” didn’t “order” a warrant (duh, we know that) or that “Trump” was not the “target” of wiretapping, none of that means that there was not surveillance against some of Trump’s team initiated by the Obama WH in some way or other.
This NY Times story is worse than useless, it is the usual squid-spurting ink to cover and obscure the issues.
I think you nailed it.
