I don’t care what the states are. What is the history of the districts ? Even blue states have red districts and vice versa

There have been 13 special elections since Nov 8. 3 in 2016 and 10 in 2017. All of them have been won by the party holding the seat previously. 2 state Senate seats have determined control of their Senates. Both won by Dems running in districts reps would have unlikely won.

Ballotpedia has an interesting paragraph on why the vacancies etc.

Breakdown of 2017 special elections
In 2017, special elections for state legislative positions are being held for a variety of reasons:

21 due to appointment, election, or the seeking of election to another position
1 due to an ineligible general election candidate
5 due to the incumbent accepting another job
4 due to a retirement
2 due to a death
The partisan breakdown for the special elections is as follows:

14 Democratic seats
19 Republican seats

There are additional special elections scheduled with at least two that I saw will guarantee change of party. LA has race with only rep candidates and one other.
