Nkechi is a real West African name. It's pronounced "In-kech-ee" with an emphasis on the middle syllable. I used to know a girl by that name; real nice girl. She was also an authentic West African black girl, born and raised in Nigeria. When she would hear something incredulous, she would just shake her head while saying "yep, yep, yep." I can picture her doing it now, in reaction to this story.
