If Wood is correct and Putin basically is creating a new Russian oligarchy, then it should be possible to work with him for our mutual interest. For example, an unstable middle east that threatens Russia’s economic stability is not in Putins interest, but interfering with his activities vis Ukraine will not go over well. If Trump and his team can prepare well and negotiate effectively I see plenty of reason of opitimism. And he is one of the best negotiators on the planet.
