Judge dismissed juror for nodding off during Bunkerville standoff trial

A federal judge Thursday dismissed one of the jurors seated for the trial against six men accused of conspiring with rancher Cliven Bundy.

The woman, identified only as 'juror 12' was dismissed late Thursday after U.S. District Judge Gloria Navarro noticed her falling asleep on several occasions during testimony. The jury includes four alternates, so the case will not be affected by the juror's dismissal....

Most of the witnesses have been federal law enforcement officers who have given similar accounts of the events of April 12, 2014. The trial is expected to last weeks due to the voluminous government evidence and the numbers of defendants--each of whom have the opportunity, through their attorneys, to cross-examine every witness......

Navarro ordered juror 12 not to have any conversations about the case until the trial is over, and threatened to slap her with a civil contempt charge if she disobeys that order.

Good. Sleeping while on jury duty is wrong.

The juror’s conduct is reprehensible. So is the conduct of the government agents in this case.

This is a draft. I tend to nod off at a moments notice.

That being said.
I would have hoped to get on this jury which would have been difficult as I would seriously have had to disguise my hatred for the Obama justice department.

But if I didn’t care about a case. I might have nodded off.

So the affirmative action foreigner known as Navarro is upset with a juror?

Who cares what she thinks. In her “culture” there is no such thing as a jury trial, and guilt is assumed upon arrest.

Think I’m being judgemental? Then why would “las vegas native” still be fluent in Spanish, and be a professional at “non-English speaking representation”?

Just another Obama far out freak in the judiciary.

“Chief Judge Navarro is a Las Vegas native of Cuban descent who is fluent in Spanish. She has authored several articles, including “Cultural Factors and the Voluntariness of Statements” and “Criminal Defense and the Consequences of Immigration Law.” Judge Navarro has also been a speaker for the Criminal Justice Act Panel Attorneys on the topic of “How to Effectively Represent Non-English Speaking Clients and/or Clients with a Different Cultural Background.”

Lighten up, Francis. What is reprehensible is a trial of facts in a criminal case that takes WEEKS. I would do the same thing if I were unfortunate enough to be selected for that kind of jury duty.

Have you been on a jury? I have (multiple serious felonies in one trial), and I made sure I got a good night’s sleep each day to be ready for trial both weeks. Even when I was skeptical of the defense claims, and even when I was grossed out by the prosecution’s evidence, I listened attentively.

The trial is what is wrong.

There shouldn’t be any jurors to fall asleep. There shouldn’t be a trial.

I agree with you. This trial has just began to bring out some of the dirty deeds of the “authorities”. This article has a link to the letter Congressman Jason Chaffetz sent regarding Dan Love. (The letter confirms that Dan Love was the BLM agent under investigation for abuse of power and many other problems during his career.) He was supposed to be the government’s chief witness in this trial.

The lawmakers are now asking Deputy Inspector General Mary Kendall to “investigate the specific allegations raised in your interviews of destruction of federal records, witness tampering, and obstruction of a congressional investigation.”

They pointed to claims from witnesses quoted in the IG report that Love instructed BLM employees to scrub emails, “flagging anything that looked inappropriate so that [Love] could remove them if needed.” Another alleged that a BLM employee “deleted hundreds of documents” from a shared network on Feb. 3, 2016.

“If substantiated, these attempts to conceal documents and destroy federal records responsive to a congressional inquiry are unlawful, as it is a federal crime to obstruct a congressional investigation or falsify, conceal or cover up a material fact in one,” the lawmakers wrote in the letter.

My Question is, when will Dan Love be arrested?
