President Trump agrees the government glass is half empty. He just doesn’t necessarily mind it.
Trump, in an exclusive interview Tuesday with “Fox & Friends,” suggested his lack of political appointees is less about a difficulty in finding eager candidates and more about a desire for a leaner government operation.
“When I see a story about ‘Donald Trump didn’t fill hundreds and hundreds of jobs,’ it’s because, in many cases, we don’t want to fill those jobs,” Trump said.
Prior to taking office, stories abounded about the more than 600 unfilled senior appointments that Trump had yet to make. But the president on Tuesday seemed in no rush to bloat his staff, and, in fact, bragged of “cutting” positions.

By not immediately appointing the great number, he also gives his cabinet officers far more flexibility to find the right talent for various jobs. In past, it was more oriented towards “payoff” jobs for political cronies. So doing it this way is definitely antiestablishment.

No work, no show patronage jobs. Dealing with the NY unions, Trump knows the game. Decides not to play.
It was absolutely, completely and totally oriented towwards payoff jobs for political hacks. There have only been, traditionally, a couple of exceptions, SecDef and SecState. Treasury is an important job but has always gone to the Wall Street/banking communities preference. And even State and Defense have been subject to political hackery [Kerry? Panetta?]. The last really qualified secretary of state was Kissinger.
Everything else has been filled by political hacks for years. Clinton did it. Bush did it, and Obama did it.
All useless goddamned hacks. They guy who ran a school board and licked stamps for the campaign and needs a job. It goes on and on.
Compare to Mattis, Tillerson, etc. Every single appointment is someone who has solid credentials running things related to his position.
In the same way the news of the shriveling economy and low GDP under Obama was unexpected.
President Trump is keeping his promises. That has generally happened throughout American history when a President was elected who had not previously been a lawyer.

I was within a quarter inch of that myself, last time I was there. They even became angry with me for asking to lie down. If some 84 year old guy in a wheelchair hadn’t started talking with me, I think I’d have done it.
It might be a good idea to send a leaker like Prebius to one of these jobs in exchange for keeping his mouth shut.
He can’t drain the swamp unless he appoints an awful lot of dedicated swamp drainers.

It’s not just VA it’s even private hospitals. Beware of stand alone clinics. They have more legal protection than a hospital has.
I had a bad reaction to MS Contin, locked up all my joints in severe pain, and caused a really bad case of diarrhea for several hrs, it would run down my leg every time I tried to stand. Several changes in night clothes were needed. Took me 4 days to get the crap out of my system.
Got myself out of the OR cart and went to the RR when I had the inner ear perfusion, I needed to pee, no call button, no vital checks, No place for the IV to be hung on, but the toilet flush handle. Sadistic doctor. This is a 3 day same day surgery. No pain meds. I fired the butt hole. And would not go back for the 6 wk check up, made my PCP find me another ENT. Come to find out the POS had a bad rep of being sadistic. Biggest stand alone ear clinic in Memphis, could not get the state to go after him. Lost half my low freq hearing. And now wear twin hearing aids, I had to pay for, as I’m a spouse, not the service member.
We are way over the VA cap so have to use private docs and hospitals. Hubby gets a new partial knee on Mar 22. Over night stay as Medicare insist on it. Not necessary. 1st one he walked with out aid 30 mins after surgery. Was driving 3 days later.

That seems to be de rigueur among the little tin gods of witch doctery these days.

BLAME DUMBO, HE GAVE THE DEA ORDERS FOR DOCS TO REDUCE PAIN MEDS 75%. THERE ARE 1.33 MILLION CHRONIC PAIN PATIENTS, NO CURE FOR THEIR DISEASES OR CONDITIONS. PAIN MEDS ARE THE ONLY REASON MANY CAN EVEN GET OUT OF BED. WE DON’T ABUSE OR SELL OUR MEDS, WE RELY ON THEM TO FUNCTION SEMI-NORMAL LIVES.
