Apple touts its commitment to diversity, but its shareholders dont seem to care all that much about it.
On Tuesday, Apple investors overwhelmingly rejected a proposal that would have urged the company to ramp up its efforts to hire African Americans, Latinos and other people of color for its board of directors and senior management positions. As is the case at many tech companies, members of such groups have been underrepresented at Apple compared with the general population.

Good vote.
Racism doesn’t build better products
When is the NBA finally going to become 10% asian..?
Luddite , knuckle-dragging shareholders /humor
How many Parolee’s
Murderers?
Rapists?
Thieves
Sex Offenders?
Registered Sex Offenders?
Tell me about your precious FAKE Diversity.
I don’t know about that, but surely we could FORCE them Under Current Law to become 12-13% Black.
yes, aint it great!
now then, if only Apple would have fixed the “20 minute life” battery in this iphone, I would buy a whole lot more Apple products (I have some influence in a large organization’s ordering ...)
it is a Kafkaesque conversation to have to say, “20 minute life cannot be right, it sure isn’t good for me the user” and to have the Apple folks say, “it tests out to design specs”
I can only conclude that Apple’s warranty is (or was, in my case) basically useless. Great product but...serious flaw
How about limiting the number of f***** I mean homofascists in the executive positions to their number in general society?
How many of their board members have families? How many have a spouse of opposite sex?
Is their board 50% conservative?
Why no diversity of opinion?
I’ve never had a problem with charge or battery life in an iPhone until the most recent iOS update, now it’s down to 50% or less in a day whether I use it or not. The phone’s not old enough for there to be issues otherwise, only had it a year.
When it comes to their own dough, they aren’t willing to fantasize that certain groups could meaningfully contribute to high-tech products, at a profit.
The purpose of a corporate board is management, not representation.
ours got worse too so maybe the more recent softwares have contributed to the problem, yes
“Bell Curve” over-rides diversity.
As a shareholder, Im disappointed because I know that Apples shocking lack of diversity leads to a weaker return on my investment.
Apple is trading at an all time high. The return on your monetary investment is doing fine. Your investment in your self imposed guilt no so good.
“ramp up its efforts to hire African Americans, Latinos and other people of color for its board of directors and senior management positions.”
If they aren’t good enough to get it on their own, then why do they think it’s a matter of them not noticing?
Members of “such groups” are “under represented” in much of the high tech sector because they have been “under represented” among those making the college course and job career choices that in time lead to prominent positions in the high tech industries.
Over time as those in “such groups” POSSIBLY make different choices in high school, college and industry career paths they MIGHT NOT BE as “under represented”, but if merit is the most important thing in such jobs, then it will really be up to what choices individuals make, not artificial manufacturing of more “diversity”.
Hiring based on ability is just so racist.
Your reply to me was intended for another post in this thread . (I’ve done that too.)
