All the militia talk is just a smoke screen. The amendment recognizes the desirability of and the need for a militia. But in no way does it limit keeping and bearing of arms to that militia. What part of “shall not be infringed” do they fail tom understand?

I come from a long line of NE Yankees, 1630, all males were required to possess arms. To be in the Militia was a given and the requirement to drill with in an age group was also a given.

You were also expected to posses arms before to require familiarity with arms and after to help defend the home turf.
