Mayor Bill de Blasio will be questioned voluntarily by federal prosecutors Friday in connection to fundraising activities for his campaign.
An official familiar with the matter said that it is a voluntary interview. The mayor has had extensive preparation this week ahead of the meeting.
Mayor de Blasio has not been subpoenaed. It is something of a tightrope walk for the mayor who has volunteered to answer questions, but has not been granted immunity from prosecution.
Here is what he told reporters, early in the investigation:
"I hold myself and my administration to the highest standards of integrity. I have been in public life for some time, I am a reformer for a reason," de Blasio said back on April 11, 2016.
But investigators have been poring through finance records from the mayor's 2013 campaign, amid questions about how campaign officials solicited donations from the city's real estate and business sectors.
The U.S. attorney and his staff are determined to find out whether individuals may have benefited from those donations.
The mayor has insisted donors are not entitled to favoritism.
"If someone makes a donation, that's their choice, they should expect nothing in return," de Blasio said.
Mayor de Blasio will be accompanied by counsel at the interview.
Might an indictment be coming?
Weiner also supposedly being indicted soon.

Preet and DeBlasio don’t get along?
One thing for sure that De Blasio knows nothing at all about.... Integrity.
He’s as corrupt as a 3 dollar bill, but what does it matter? Even if he is arrested and convicted, the voters will replace him with another Democrap or RINO and then the process repeats. They take to the streets to protest Trump yet I can’t recall one time they ever protested De Blasio. The only time I can think of is maybe the horse and carriage owners protesting when De Blasio wanted to get rid of them and replace them with electric cars produced by a company which he was personally invested in.
Yeah he is, but he's the self-proclaimed "Leader of The Revolution" .. so all the lefties will give him a pass.
Billy de Blasio is exempt from any moral, ethical, and humanistic standards due to this fact. He's a rising star in the Democratic Party ... soon to be dumped on the trash heap of history .... [laughs] ...

That guy destroyed so many lives in the taxi industry it’s not funny. I use to drive a cab in NYC years ago, thank God I’m out of it now, but what he did is break the contract the city had with medallion owners that gave them the exclusive right to pick up passengers and in my opinion took bribes from Uber to allow them to operate. That city is so corrupt it’s ridiculous, that’s one of the reasons I moved out years ago. I hate that place with a passion and I grew up there, it’s just THE a-hole capital of the world, it really is. A-holes voting a-holes into office and people like this get massively screwed over.........
