Lol. I used to teach ESL for adults at a community college. I usually had around 25 students in my class. Occasionally only about 3 or 4 would be in attendance, so I would say to those students that it looks like INS was making rounds that day, and they would laugh and say yes.
What amazed me was that some of those students had been here for many years and never had learned enough English to get by in normal activities.

LOL, I imagine it probably went something like the class in "Stripes"...

Russell Ziskey: Okay, I know you're anxious to jump right in and start speaking English, but there's a couple of things I need to know first, because I've never done this before. So, how many of you would say you speak English fairly well, but with some difficulties?
[pause]
Russell Ziskey: A little English?
[a man raises his hand]
Russell Ziskey: Yes? You speak some English?
Man: Son of b____ S___.
Class: [in unison] Son of b____. S___.

Illegals have always lived off rumors. After they killed several people locally(automobile accidents), there was a rumor of a round up that sent people underground.

People from other countries assume America is just like their home country.
