This is the type of heros and people who are buried in this cemetery.
Below is an example of a World War II pilot that was shot down over Germany. And when they found out he was Jewish they executed him.

Death: Nov. 6, 1944, Germany
The brass plaque to the right was purchased by the family to memorialize Lieut Wolfson following his death. It appears on the Wall of Memory at United Hebrew Congregation, Chesterfield, Missouri. Wolfsons name is read aloud in memory once each year on the anniversary of his death. It is a perpetual memory of his life and death.
2LT, 335 AAF BOMB SQ, 95 BOMB GP WORLD WAR II
He served as a Co-Pilot and his aircraft was hit over a target in the Kaiserslautern, Germany area. During the flight back all crewmembers but the pilot and navigator bailed out. Lt. Wolfson landed in a wooden area about 12 kilometers southwest of Kaiserslautern. He was taken prisoner by members of the Kaiserslautern police. They turned him over to a group of German soldiers. Shortly thereafter he was shot to death by a German National. His body was buried in the Kaiserslautern cemetery. Lt. Wolfson was the veteran of many missions and had received the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Medal with several clusters and the Presidential Unit Citation, and awarded the Purple Heart posthumously.

Stanfords remains were exhumed in 1949 from the Kaiserlautern, Germany Cemetery and returned to the United States. His remains were buried in the Chesed Shel Emeth Cemetery, University City, MO on February 27, 1949. We are certain about his return since the cemetery records confirm that his remains were placed in a below-ground, sealed concrete vault that is standard for most conservative Jewish burials. Other members of Lt. Wolfsons family would later be buried nearby in this Wolfson family plot.
