Verify? Verify??? BS like that bit of stupidity shouldn't require a trip to Wikipedia or even an old school encyclopedia. It should simply be part of personal knowledge gained in what used to be considered a reasonably complete course in World History in high school. Or maybe Comparative World Religions in college.
