They can ask anything they want.... doesn’t mean we have to answer or answer truthfully. “Do you like to skydive? Do you often travel to countries where Ebola is prevalent? Do hang out with filthy liberals?”
In theory, if you lie about a health or safety issue to the doctor and thus insurer and then get hurt, your medical claims based on said condition (being shot) could be denied.
It also provides a data collection point where people could theoretically be charged more for health insurance due to the health risk guns pose per liberal logic, just as smokers are billed more. Another financial incentive to try to force change, though I don’t know of any insurer who has done such.
You also get medical data collection such that if you take antidepressants, they can flag your case and demand police show up to take the gun. Unfortunately, some of the anti-suicide calls have resulted in police killing the person they were supposed to save, so I don’t have any faith in that process if implemented on a routine basis.
