The F-16 manufacturing and assembly line is done. No more work planned for it.

This is just one aspect of India joining the aerospace industry, and not just militarily.

Rather than just scrap the assembly operation, this gives it a chance to live.

And, as other posters have pointed out, as a result, all the spare parts supply chain, the engineers and technologists keep chugging along.

It's a good deal, because if it wasn't the US, it would have been either Sweden or France. This is a start to permanently link India and the US in the aerospace industry.
