WASHINGTON — A new poll shows Ivanka Trump is viewed in high regard by most Republicans and some Democrats. In recent weeks, her clothing line’s performance and related retail decisions have spurred what critics call a conflict of interest from officials.
Meanwhile, Nordstrom — which drew President Donald Trump’s ire for its decision to drop Ivanka Trump’s clothing line — is less popular among self-identified Republicans, but shows strong support among Democrats compared to other retailers, the poll found.
The PredictWise and Pollfish survey received responses from 1,200 people on Feb. 13 through online and in-app polling methods. Economist David Rothschild, from` PredictWise, said he does not report margins of error because he does “not believe it can be accurately estimated.”
The poll found that Ivanka Trump — a close, though informal, adviser to her father — was viewed as “favorable” or “very favorable” by 39% of Americans surveyed, and “unfavorable” or “very unfavorable” by 27%. The rest either said they were neutral or didn’t know.
Among surveyed Republicans, Ivanka was viewed by 67% in a favorable light, the poll found. Only 9% said they viewed her unfavorably. Among Democrats, 22% said their opinion of her was positive, while 44% viewed her unfavorably.
The poll authors note that Ivanka Trump’s unfavorability among Democrats is “relatively light” considering her high visibility within Trump’s team and compared with Trump’s other prominent advisers.
Nordstrom, for its part, showed “incredibly high Democratic favorability for a relatively exclusive retail store,” Rothschild wrote. The retail chain scored 47% favorability and 8% unfavorability among Democratic respondents.
On the other hand, 27% of Republican respondents said they viewed Nordstrom in an unfavorable light, and 25% viewed the store favorably.
“The decision to stop carrying Ivanka Trump’s brand, and President Trump’s public reaction, seems to have made them quite partisan, at least for now,” Rothschild wrote.
However, the poll was only performed after the incident, so it is not possible to conclude whether favorability toward Ivanka Trump or Nordstrom has changed as a result of the public spat.
The results were gathered a week after President Trump tweeted that Nordstrom was treating his daughter “so unfairly” for dropping her clothing line. Nordstrom has said it dropped the line because of declining sales.
Democratic members of Congress accused Trump of engaging in a potential conflict of interest.
Criticism amplified the following day when White House counselor Kellyanne Conway went on national television and told viewers to “go buy Ivanka’s stuff” — a potential violation of ethics rules.
I bought two expensive suits for my husband years ago from Nordstrom’s, and BOTH of them literally fell apart!! Never shopped there again for him.
Ivanka Trump is one of the most beautiful women alive in my opinion.
I’m getting hair extensions so I can look just like her.
That means 78% of Democrats don’t like Ivanka.
Now that’s just strange. What did she ever do to offend any of them? Then 33% of Republicans share their view?

She hasn’t been running a criminal enterprise for her family.
She’s an entrepreneurial woman, doing what most women claim is their ideal aspiration in life. She’s a good loyal wife, loving mother, and productive member of society.
I see people on both sides of the isle that are very conflicted.

No, her hair’s beautiful. I’m the one with male pattern baldness.
So what the hell is NOT to like? She is a decent person, a great mother, cares for her children, is smart, well educated, well spoken, rich ( a really good thing), attractive, good business woman and has potential of being the FIRST WOMAN POTUS. So tell me what is really wrong with her? I SUSPECT THE DEMODUMMIES AND EXTREMELY JEALOUS NOT TO MENTION UGLY!
I doubt if Michelle Obama published likeability was ever below 30% for Republicans.
It either shows how partisan the average Democrat voter is or just another fake poll .

She’s a good wife, mother, business woman, and daughter.
She’s got a good head on her shoulders, and is reported to be one of her father’s most trusted advisers.
I admire that in her.
I may not agree with her on all things political, but she is not by any stretch of the imagination a die-hard Democrat, destructive and vile of nature.
Having said that about her, I have the same thoughts on Donald Jr. and Eric. Trump has some world class kids.
Agree with them on everything or not, I’d be hard pressed to find another family I admired as much. They are all high achievers and very capable people.
Contrast these kids with the children of any other president since Carter. Trump’s kids would fair very well against any of them.
Being a parent isn’t easy. Trump is on his third marriage, so he’s had some rough spots in the road. Despite them, he remained engaged with his children and arrived at the place where he can be incredibly proud of them.
No wonder they are proud of him too.
Say what you want about any of them, these are people who work very hard for what they have. None of them received a lot of money and just coasted. They increase their holdings through hard earnest and competent work.
Kudos to them.
exactly just like the warren buffets, no spoiled trust fund babies. $1500-2,000 a month for work activites max and no money and cut off with arrests for drink, drugs public scenes etc.
My likeability, as in giving someone the benefit of the doubt went to ZERO for Moochelle when she made the remark about not being proud of her Country until her Marxist Husband was Elected.
It went to MINUS ZERO when she made the comment to her Husband “all this for a Flag” at the 9/11 Memorial back in 2011 (I believe).
No surprise. Ivanka is beautiful, brilliant, well-raised, educated, mannerly, Ladylike, even. Can you imagine a more threatening combo to a dirty, disheveled, jealous, raving feminist? Ivanka is everything the left hates.
I know this, because a very closed neighbor is one of THOSE rumpled raging Bernie people. She mumbled and muttered about the Trump family until I said, "Isn't wonderful that we get to see all those beautiful people on tv every day?" Neighbor looked like I'd hit her with a wet fish (and I wanted to). It had never occurred to her to NOT hate people like the Trumps. She's softened down considerably about Ivanka and Melania, not so much about The Donald.
In the interest of fairness, neighbor does step up and do a lot for the "less fortunate." But the more fortunate? No way.
Good. I’d assume that’s for their pre adulthood activities.
As adults they should be compensated at scale.
I think it is the wise well to do person, who helps their children learn the value of money by making them deal with limited income during their youth.
I find it “interesting” that (we left the White House broke)Hillary’s Daughter lives in a $10,000,000 Manhattan Condo and Trump’s Children live in much less expensive Housing.
I remember Eric Trump saying he bought his place from his Father and he didn’t get a great deal on it. He paid about $2,000,000 for it.

I’m sure in some ways your neighbor is a good person. She may have raised a great family.
It’s is disconcerting to me to see folks who have made something of themselves, who don’t have the tools to figure out that Trump and his family are pretty much the ideal of what people in a Capitalist society aspire to.
I NEVER get jealous of wealthy people. When I say that, I don’t mean that I don’t wish to have what they have, but I am happy for them. They are the advertisement for Capitalism that makes me want to achieve what they have.
In a socialist environment, there’s no desire for improvement. You get the monthly check whether you produce or not.
That society can’t compete with a Capitalist society.
Look at China that allowed a Capitalist based system to flourish. It took twenty years for them to elevate their society from a 1950 level of existence, to one of a 2017 existence.
There are still pockets of poverty, but their cities have really elevated their standing in recent years.

Look at their ethics, and then look at the Trump family’s ethics.
