Law allows Trump to refuse visas to ‘uncooperative’ countries that won’t take back deportees

Even if President Trump can’t convince the courts to approve his extreme vetting executive order, he may have another tool at his disposal that would allow him to strip visas from some of the seven countries he’s trying to target, crackdown supporters say. A federal law says the government can stop issuing visas to countries that are deemed “uncooperative” because they refuse to take back their citizens when the U.S. tries to deport them. At least five of the seven countries Mr. Trump is targeting — Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia and Sudan — are already on that list, according to new data obtained by the Immigration Reform Law Institute. All Mr. Trump would have to do is have his Homeland Security Department secretary issue an official notification about those countries, and the State Department would immediately halt visas, IRLA says. “Each of these countries either cannot or are unwilling to take back their citizens, all of whom have either violated our immigration laws or committed crimes against our own. For that reason alone, the Trump administration can and should put a complete halt to their visa privileges. In fact, the law requires it,” said Ian Smith, investigative associate at the IRLA. Both the Bush and Obama administrations have used the tool before, but never on more than one country, and not as part of a crackdown on potential terrorism.

Mr. Trump needs to use all the immigration law tools at his disposal to fix all these growing immigration problems that just will not go away.

I've read that at least one or two Central/South American countries refuse to take back their citizens.

Does anyone know what element of the law FORCES Trump to continue issuing visas to anyone, anywhere? The recent court ruling does not AFAIK, address the issuance of new visas. So Trump should just halt issuing them for any country he chooses.

I have been arguing this point for some time. It is just not obvious that Trump needs some trick like the one discussed in this article to turn off the immigrant spigot. But apparently he does.

Why?

The law clearly allows POTUS to refuse immigrants from any country for any reason. But that did not stop judges from issuing a TRO against his order.

The more I read about the issue, the more I think Trump should just ignore the TRO.

Obama released at least 30,000 convicted criminal alien felons every year back into the USA general population instead of deporting them after they completed their prison sentences because their countries wouldn’t take them back.

These are murderers, robbers, sex predators, drunk drivers ,etc.

What a scumbag that blue lipped MOZLUM MF is.

These animals need to go.

And I keep asking myself why President Trump does not want to use all these laws available to him. He has smart people surrounding him so his top supporters say that know the law inside and out, not school age but seasoned people that know the "art of the deal" and have read "the book".

So why?

Because he has made another deal that does not include security for the American people but a deal more fit for President Trump. His nominees. He does not lose and he will not lose his appointees so a deal has been struck by the "deal maker" for his nominees.

So, IMO this is what is going on or these islamic terrorist supporting countries under a President who REALLY wanted to shutdown traffic would have already done it, pure and simple.

American people, you are being lied to again, same punch bowl different turd

Trump needs to forget the immigration ban and just implement an extreme vetting process that takes about 5 years.
