American spymasters snooped on the private life of Tony Blair, according to reports in the U.S.

Mr Blair was given the code name 'Anchory' as his private telephone calls were routinely listened into and recorded.

A file containing personal information about him is said to have been compiled at a giant U.S. listening post run by the secretive National Security Agency.

The extraordinary claim was made by a former Navy communications operator who worked at a listening post in Fort Gordon, Georgia.

The point being that NSA is full of holes whenever a Republican is in the White House. Couldn't have anything to do with it being located right next to (Red) Baltimore.

I certainly hope that the Administration is looking in that direction to find a source for the signals intelligence that brought down the National Security Advisor...

A person would have to be very naive to believe that governments don’t spy on each other, including friends. What’s bothering are the leaks.

I hate this crap, though spying on foreign leaders is nothing new. US citizens OTOH, should require a search warrant each and every time

I think it was Snowden who said that is not the case.

Oh, I’m certain it is not the case, even before Snowden.

“What’s bothering are the leaks.”

All Sigint personnel must sign a document swearing not to disclose any info for a period of 10 years or draconian punishment awaits. This person’s 10 year period must have just run its course. In cases like this, there’s no way to stop the leak(s), but the info disclosed is obviously dated.
There’s no way to stop a publicity hound.

"require a search warrant each and every time"

That's a wet tissue, actually. A friendly judge will on Thursday write you a warrant back dated to Tuesday to cover what you found without the warrant. It just has to be something you know is one of the judge's hot button issues.

Or you have to have something good on the judge or someone he cares about.
